98 3rd gen. 175k miles, all regular maintenance, never had ANY issues out of this rig. I rarely drive it more than 20 miles a week as my job provides a take home vehicle. I regularly pull it into the street while I work in the garage. Tonight I went to pull it back in and because it doesn't get a lot of heat up time to burn off oil, I rev'd it up to clear out the blue smoke before I pulled it in so the garage wouldn't stink (yes, it burns oil). As I let off the gas there was a loud "clank" sound like something in the engine just snapped. The entire truck started shaking. I tapped the gas and it rev'd up normally, but as I let off it rattled like crazy. I drove it into the garage and the idle continued to shake badly. Rev'd it up again and same thing, goes up smooth and rattles on the way down. No codes have been thrown. I don't want to drive it around for fear I will be left on the road. It starts just fine. Any Ideas?
