Something odd the past 2 days

Yesterday was going down the road about 40mph everything seems to be running fine and all of a sudden it was as if I had just let my foot off the gas for about 1/2 second, then right back to normal, then did it again 2-3 more times in about the next 1 minute then didn't happen again rest of the day.

This morning I started my truck (remote start) from my kitchen to let it run about a minute a so before I go out so the engine is warm and the cab is cool.
Everything seems fine then as soon as I give it gas to pull out of parking spot it does the same thing, no weird sound, no sputter, no anything just felt like I took my foot off gas pedal for about a 1/2 second and it did it twice in about 10 seconds.
I went back to parking spot sat there revved it up a bit and left anyway and drove about 20+ miles without a single problem.

So WTF?

I wish I had the Ultra Gauge I ordered a few days ago, there might be some "error code" showing something but I have no idea.

Anyone had this happen before?

I had my fuel filter changed a month or so ago so not that.
I suppose it "could" be some bad gas with maybe a little water in it or something.

I would say TPS... throttle positioning sensor. I had that happen to me a little bit, but after a little time, the code popped on.

$50 and a few screws. I guess you should test with a multimeter.

It is probably the synthetic oil. Just Kidding.

It sounds like a malfunctioning sensor- Either mass air flow or Throttle position.

If it was bad gas, it would happen consistently. If it was a bad fuel pump, it would happen when you start up.

If it was a coil pack, you loose power but not all the power.

Another thought, you said you had a remote car start. Maybe one of the wires is coming loose.

Are there any chk engine lights?

Thanks for all the ideas.

No check engine lights.
It happens so fast and so short a duration that I wasn't even sure it was even happening at first.

Don't believe it is the remote start.

I will check the MAF and TPS.

I just checked for "TPS" problems on this site and the symptoms everyone was talking about sounds exactly like what was happening to me.

Other than this the engine seems to be running smooth as silk, I am sure it is some dang sensor or something like that.
Wish I had that Ultra Gauge

Thank you

First things first- check for DTCs and report.

Check out relays and fuses for the traction control and cruise control systems.

The throttle cable doesn't go directly to the throttle plate, it first goes through an electronic module that relays your input to a second cable that goes to the throttle body. If there's a malfunction in that system, it could be losing a signal for fractions of a second and cut throttle.

Never heard of anyone having this problem, but it's worth a look...

let us know what you find!

I'm certainly no mechanic, but this was the exact same symptom on our '99 Toyota car when the O2 sensor was going out. Got progressively worse over the course of a couple months...noticed it more when the outside temp was very hot.
