in the ad you'd see: "only has a rebuilt title due to small (yeah right) damage to driver's door, you drive the car not the title" or "had a tiny amount of water in one foot well during last winter's (massive) flooding, no other problems with electrics and like new, contact Vlad or Muhammad al Hakim."
I think they hope no one will find out how much it really takes to salvage a new and expensive car. I used to work with auto body shops at my college job and would see MASSIVE damage to a new Corvette, Mercedes, or Lexus et al. and always think it was going to be salvaged, but the insurance companies would repair them. Sometimes newer trucks would even get all new frames and airbags and still not be salvaged.
