Southern California Snow Alert 2011

The purpose of this thread is to let T4R know if there is new snow anywhere in Southern CA.

I would really like to go up to Mt. Laguna right after it snows but the snow melts in a few days and our news media is sh$t.

If it is snowing where you are please please reply to this thread.

Include:
* When it happened
* Where specifically
* How much
* Pics are great
* Any trails nearby?

Fawnskin trails - Big Bear - San Bernadino

Fresh Snow on trails. About 1.5ft but deeper on trails no-one ran yet. I became high centered on some of the trails - had to back up and push forward LOL

i'll give the Eastern Sierra Dump Alert for tonight!
Got a couple feet over the last 2 days and should have another 2' by tomorrow night. Dumping right now. Last storm all high elevation- 8500' and above, this wave is to the valley floor. Tons of rain lower so the trails in Bishop and the Whites are TACKY

It is supposed to snow in the mountains around San Diego tonight.

Big Bear received a few inches of snow all day yesterday! I got back last night and it still was snowing on my way down to the base.

They're calling for rain next Friday 2/10. Crossing my fingers for anything...

Hello,

How do you get there...? I live near Torrance CA, and would like to go off-roading with my family (read: has to be a day trip, maybe camp overnight) and I also have a totally stock 4runner ...would you recommend this location??

Also in general do you have recommendation (places to go to learn basic skills) for beginners like myself. I am willing to get a few items like tow straps, special jack and eventually better tires, but I am at a point in my life where I can't splurge on costly (more than 300$ ) modifications...plus that is why I got the 4runner, so I can be "trail ready" as is.
