I have a 98 4runner limited 4x4 and I am trying to find out if the 1.5" Toytec spacer kit I have for my 96 Tacoma will fit it. I know Tacomas and 4 runners have different rear suspensions but if I can use the front I can buy the rear spacers from daystar.

Agree completely. People rag on body lifts so hard, but then turn right around and suggest spacer lifts. You take a 25% CoG penalty with body lift vs. the up to- 100% (less unsprung weight) CoG penalty with any sort of suspension lift. Not to mention, spacer lifts ride like complete ass.

If it were me, I'd burn the spacer lifts in the lava at Mordor, get a new OEM 99 tall spring set w/ matching shocks & struts, and throw on a 1.5" body lift. Then slap on some sweet 32's and get romping!

Yes the spacers will work.

I'll agree with the others in that they're not ideal. However, if they're free, and you're familiar with (and okay with) how they perform, go for it. They'll bolt right up.

the tundra bilstein 5100s snap ring system is essentially an adjustable spacer, just like an adjustable coilover is like a spacer. they all just preload and compress the spring. i would think ideally your spring would have no preload when its fully extended. think about this scenario, you hit a jump and get air, if you have no preload the spring starts compressing the moment the tires touch the ground. if you have preload the tires hit the ground, but the suspension doesnt start compressing until the force of the vehicle matches the preload. using this logic, this is why the lower the spring perch the better it feels. however to make this feasable you need a higher spring rate in order to have the correct ride height.

obviously you want a bit of preload so the spring keeps seated.

also yes go ahead and put it on, keep in mind though, you will need an alignment so that also adds to the cost.

I disagree. before my lift I wheeled my truck and I was always having to figure out the best lines in order to not damage my truck or get stuck, and if im honest it madej me a better wheeler. a stock 4runner is a great offroad vehicle, but its not indestructable. adding the lift made it a lot easier to traverse uneven ground, plus I didnt have to worry as much about scraping. anyways... do what you want, just dont get a bracket lift.

Thats true. Everything is a compromise I guess. For hard wheeling, I feel that a low COG is especially important for an ifs truck. But again, it depends what the individual is using it for.

I want to lift it to clear bigger tires that I already have and I want to use the lift I already have. This is my hunting vehicle. I have a dedicated vehicle for trail riding or rock crawling.
