Spacers and Blocks on an 88

Alright, I have a 1988 Sr5 V6 factory height with some nasty butt sag so it's butt is hangin down at only 33" off the ground. I would like to get 33" on there by doing a 2" block lift under the leaf springs. But would doing an add a leaf also help me?I just want to have it all set up and I'm relatively a novice to the concept of lift kit and everything and only today did I find ball join spacers so lemme know what you guys got. I want on road/ off road weekend warrior :flame::flame:

If your springs are already sagging, the bumpstop is all that's keeping them from going reverse arch and fatiguing rapidly, and then they'll snap. A block will accelerate that process. An add-a-leaf would be a little better, but they're designed to add weight cap, not lift. They ride rough.

If you want a cheap fix, look up the Zukmod... very effective, very budget friendly. Knowing what I know, I'd do it right and order up a set of lift springs. The OME lift rides awesome, and will raise your back just a little higher than the ball joint spacers. You can compensate by a couple cranks on the torsion bar if you don't like the rake.

Don't worry about the tires, you can fit 33s at stock height if you're willing to trim and pound a little. A 2" lift should be plenty.

I'll add a little bit to Kevin's post too, make sure you let the new springs "break in" before you go crankin' that torsion bar! Give the springs about 3 weeks to settle into their final ride height! I have (supercrappy) superlift springs on my truck, and when I got them, the back was almost 4 inches higher than it was after driving it for 3 or 4 weeks!

OME springs are probably the best ones for a relatively stock truck. No cutting or re-locating the spring perches, just unbolt old, drop in new, enjoy.

And no to add-a-leafs on old springs! I'm sure you'll ned up with cracked leafs once their installed. It puts a lot more strain on the other springs, and being that their already sagging and not really holding up the weight, the add-a-leafs will put more stress on other parts of the spring and cause them to crack.
