Spare Tire

I've had my '04 for a couple months now. Tire pressure light has been on the whole time. Took it back to the dealer they fixed it...for about a day. Then it was back on again. Finally got tired of seeing the light and lowered the spare and while not flat it was low. Took it to a local place and they found the leak and fixed it.

My problem is, when I try and raise the spare tire back up to its position under the cargo area, I can not for the life of me get this thing to go up straight. It cocks to one side or the other preventing me from getting it secured correctly. I feel like an idiot. It's the first time I have had a spare in a vehicle that wasn't in the trunk. No problem getting it off. Is there a trick or something simple I am missing getting it back on?

Have you maybe tried cranking the spare up with one hand while guiding the tire into position with the other hand?

If it's bigger than stock it won't fit which is probably why the PO lowered the air pressure. Just do the bypass of the light and never have it come on.

Just in case, make sure the plate that lifts the wheel is mounted correctly in the wheel. It should have two tabs that face up, and both of them should be inside opposing holes in the wheel before lifting it into place. I , as someone else already mentioned, steady the wheel/tire with one hand while cranking the lift with the other. This allows me to make sure the wheel/tire is as far forward,when seated, s possible. This helps prevent the hitch ball mount from hitting the spare.
