Although I really like my 4Runner, I absolutely hate the service center and salesmen.

Anytime I take my 4Runner in for a service item (burnt out lights, oil changes, etc), I am treated like a piece of crap. I almost feel like I am bothering the service center people. They try to, "school" me in what is wrong my vehicle.

The guy that financed my 4Runner was a total ass. He kept trying to sell me an extended warranty, even after I decided I didn't want it. He also tried to screw me with a 6.5% interest rate. The salesman told me 3.9%. After haggling with the salesman and finance guy, I was able to get my promised 3.9%.

I will never buy another vehicle from Spartan.

I'm convince you need to take a tape recorder in with you when you talk to them so you can play it back when they say --- oh, I never said that. I found new Yota I wanted at a CarMax in next state (but only 20 miles away) - called CarMax and they said it was still available (2 listed in stock). Called back to my local dealer who said a black one was not available at local dealerships for him to swap vehicles with them. I gave him their listed price (shown on internet) and location - he got the car delivered to his dealership --- when I showed up to get the car they wanted me to pay an added $500 cuz the manufacturor's hold back went to the original dealer! For $500 I would just as soon drive the 22 miles to CarMax. Yup and the hard sell on paint sealant, interior stain proofing (a couple cans of Scotch Guard), undercoating, GAP insurance, pre-paid maintenance/oil changes, fishy tire replacement deal, their higher than credit union interest rates.

Oh yeah.. I forgot about the GAP insurance line.

My insurance salesman gave me GAP coverage with my new policy. It was only a few extra dollars on top of my premium.

Thankfully I haven't had any real problems with my 4Runner. Outside of normal oil changes and some burnt out lights from time to time, my 4Runner has been real good to me.

I dread fighting with the service reps if something bad happens to my 4Runner.

Can't say the same for my buddies 05 Avalanche. Just got it back from a transmission rebuilt, new U-joints, new shocks, and a replacement OEM radio, and leather seat (55,000 miles).

My 4Runner has 65,000 on it with the V8, and no real problems as of yet.

The sad thing, is he is a GM guy through and through. I could never convince him to buy foreign.
