spidertrax installed and vibrates around 55-60mph

Anyone else experience this?

I have just installed spidertrax spacers and I am experiencing little shaking at around 55-60 mph. Really like the look. But think it is a hub spacing problem even they said it is hubcentric. Am I the only one that has this problem? My truck is new with less than 2000 miles and tires are perfectly balance with no vibrating before the install. It is a little frustrating. I took the wheels off and checked and re-torque the spacers and everything seems fine.
Any idea?

That's Odd. I have the 1.25" on a 2007 with no issues.

Can you isolate where you think the vibration is? Front or rear or left or right?
 
Same exact thing happened to me! I felt a slight wobble in my steering wheel only between 55-60 mph.

I removed the spacers and now my steering is back to normal.

From what I've read, tire balance issues are more obvious when you install the spacers so that's why you're feeling the wobble/vibration. It's just weird that mine went away after spacers were removed so that assumption made no sense to me.

I don't know what to tell you other than to remove the spacers.

Seems like you've figured it out. No vibration before spacers. Vibrations after spacers. Take them off.
 
You are not the only one to experience this anomaly, nor to ask this question, nor to not search the forum before starting a new thread, and not even in the past month.

Take the time you spent drafting your new thread and put it into the search bar with "T4R 5th Gen" and read through it.

After reviewing the multitude of options that could be affecting it, including the need/strong suggestion to get an alignment after installation, and posting questions on previous threads, and then even calling the guys at Spidertrax themselves to ask since THEY are the ones who sold you the product... if after all that your issue still seems unique then fire away that new thread.

At least that is the process I go through before posting a new thread, no hard feelings intended and welcome to the forum!
 
Did you get the tires balanced after the spacers were installed?

Spacers seem to amplify imperfection in the tire balance. Had my wheels rotated recently and the vibrations started around 50MPH. Took it in to get balanced (with the spacers on) and drives perfectly now.
 
I run spacers on most of my cars. The trick is to make sure the mounting surfaces are clean from debris and rust. I usually hit them with a green scrubbie everytime I rotate them. And the biggest thing, is to torque the wheels in the air. No load on the tires. Just have someone hold the brake for the final torque. If all that doesn’t work, buy a better quality spacer. Some of them are just garbage.

...Hmm...^^^^this is an interesting suggestion. Never heard that one (yet).

Anywho - couple of things... Post from even further above is correct (unfortunately), this topic has been asked a multitude of times already... Only, my suggestion is to use Google instead of just the internal search function. But yes, type in “5th Gen 4runner wheel spacer shake”... “or shimmy” or whatever along those lines... you’ll get hits for sure.

All other assessments are/could be correct.... Did you torque to spec? Did you use loctite? Can you remove the spacers and the issue goes away? Unfortunatley, with 2007, the shake was just too much for me to live with and I had to take them off (could not find a solution besides that one)... But on the 2014, I had very minimal shake, and could totally live with it. I just decided to finally get wheels instead.

OP here is a thread that talks a bit about "Road Force Balancing". The shop I used for my tire mounting has a road force balance machine. Apparently it can apply a load and it is a more precise way of balancing. Lots of guys in my Mustang Club swear by it.

You could also try rotating the rear wheels up front and the front to rear just to see if one tire is causing it.

I jut put mine on about 250 miles ago... no vibration and lugs have not backed off. So far so good. I did make sure I cleaned all surfaces brake cleaner on lugs before applying the loctite for a clean adhesive surface.

I've been running the 1.25 spidertrax. Not a single issue. I wheel with them. I run the highway. No problems. Just check into the things already suggested.

As for buying a better quality...Spidertrax is as legit as it gets.

Bruh, Ditch the spacers. Save a few extra bucks and buy a wheel that has the right offset and backspace. That’s where you’ll end up anyway sometime down the road yeah?

Thanks for all the help! I will try to have my tire shop road force balance it first to see. Hope that will solve the problem. If not, there will be some spidertrax spacers for sale soon.
 
If your tires were perfectly balanced as you stated in your initial post and you had no vibration until after you installed the spacers, then why would you have your tires road force balanced?
