Spidertrax to correct understeer?

I recently replaced my shocks, springs and tires (5100's, FJ's, and 270/65/17's) and now I have what I call under steer. Just very tight, responsive steering but the whole things just feels a little more like a roll over hazard.

Would widening the stance by 2.5" fix this? I think most people get spacers for rubbing issues or clearance. But I would like to open up the discussion for general feel of steering with spacers added.

I have a way to fix this. Speaking of spidertrax. In fact, I just now ordered and paid for 1.25 & 1.5 spacers for mine. Should be here next week.
I have the Bilsteins front and rear. Front set to max. Replaced the daystar 1.5 in the rear for OME rear coils,(2nd best handling thing I have done) and reset the toe.
Here is what works. But remember for every positive chassis adjustment, you have to give up something else.
I hear normal "Toe" settings are at 0, or a 1/16th in. I had Toe out intentionally.
pros- corner entry is awesome, on and off road.
con- increased inner tire wear. As long as you rotate every 5k you will be good.
con-can get darty though just slightly on roads with vertical grooves cut into.
Another thing is Air Pressure. What size, type, load range tire are you running? I can help there too.
Getting rid of the rear spacers helped so much, in so many ways its unbelievable. PM if you need help.

Spacers will help slightly, but not enough. Add the spacers after whats coming below. Toss in those rear OME coils and this truck will come to life guaranteed! It will feel night and day better. I couldn't wait to throw my rear spacers as far as I could from my truck...But like most, budget was a factor at that time. I understand this. They were just as you described. The truck wallowed all over the place. Think about this. You increased ride height, tire size, although slightly. The new tire is most likely heavier than the oem tire you replaced. The Bilsteins are doing double duty while trying to control the sway, the added weight, added ride height which changes the center of gravity, and any extra cargo. You are lacking rear spring rate. Once the rear rate is changed, the rear Bilsteins no longer are being overworked. The valving in the Bilsteins appears to be valved for a heavier spring rate. My truck hauls ass on road and off road. Ive been building cars and trucks for over 20 years. Everything I mentioned depends on your driving style and needs. Lets start there first. Once we have that established, I can fix you right up.

did you get it aligned after swapping parts?

I should have been more clear. I installed brand new bilstein 5100s, brand new moog fj springs and new goodyear 270/65/17 silent armors. and yes I did have it alligned. It rides amd drives great but it can be a hair darty from time to time. I paid for a three year allignment program. So I mY try to spacers and have it allighned again. Thoughts?

im guessing they didn't get enough caster. spacers wont help.

Yup thats it. When they alligned it they worked onit for over an hour and said they said the caster was just outside of perameters. I will take it back in and see if they can fix it.

is there a cool upgrade I can justify to fix this? Likesomeafter market UCAs?

And no I dont have a temp gun but I do have access to an IR camera that has that feature.

Most certainly the new upper arms are the cats meow. First I would try and take it back in and have them recheck the settings. It's hard to find a good alignment shop where I'm at. I need my caster reset also. I don't have enough positive caster. Been able to work around that and make it drive well. Waiting to save up for the uca's. They will benefit my uses. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out my man.

So...I figured out what my issue was. I was pulling into work at @4Pm and I heard and felt a "pop" under my feet (or so I thought) when I stopped at a stop sign. I parked and everything looked ok but when I drove home an hour later the steering issues were applified. I pulled over again to make sure everything was where it should be. So I drove 10 miles straight to my allignment shop and had them look at it. It turns out that the rear most bolt holding the rear, drivers side lower control arm lost its nut and had backed halfway out. The pop was the bolt falling out of one of the two eye holes of the shackle.

I am guessing, whomever the jackleg was that installed my shocks had loosened it trying to get the rear spring in and forgot to tighten it. When I get ahold of him I am going to do absolutely nothing. Because I replaced my shocks and srpings.
