Spyder Bull bars?

Anybody have any experience with Spyder bull bars? I see one for 130 shipped from ebay, wondering how the quality is compared to westin & steelcraft ones out there.

Im planning on buying one in about a week. Doubt they are as tough as westin but mine is going to be more for covering up a cracked front bumper!

Actually, I saw this thread:

http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/89266-best-bull-bar-driving-lights-budget.html

And reading through the posts, alot of people say that the Westin bullbars aren't very sturdy and point to the fact that they only have 2 bolt on points whereas the steelseries bull bars mount on 4 points. I'm leaning towards the steelseries right now, but would like some input about the spyder bullbars as well before I make a purchase.

Yeah, but there are still things to consider for any product like quality of product, reputation of manufacturer, durability, etc. Just cause its for looks doesn't mean I would want to buy just anything without some sort of feedback.

I bought the spyder bull bar and installed it. Firsts of all install is not as easy as they show on the video. Some of the bolts were too large for the holes on the bar and I had to buy bolts, quite small ones at that, from the hardware store.

It is a china knockoff that would work good for mounting lights and looks...that's it. For the cost I can't complain, but expect bad instructions and no customer support from the seller.

Ok...it's a bull bar which is pretty much a pretty cool light bar. I'm not going to be using it for anything else but looks and cover up. As far as quality goes you get what you pay for when it comes to most automotive accessories. At 130 bucks I am not expecting a whole lot!

Hey guys...I think there is a little confusion here. The Spyder Bull Bar the OP talked about for $130 is not the REAL Spyder Industries Black Venom Bull Bar. In fact, when I search ebay for it, I only see the real deal bars. The angle cut black bull bar. That design is unique to Spyder Industries.

These are not cheap China knockoffs. They're manufactured here in the US in Wenatchee, WA. You can contact the owner, Josh Potter, directly through their website.

As for durability and toughness...so far all of the customers have been raving about them. Here's a post over at F150forum from just one customer who talks about the build quality of the REAL Spyder Industries bull bar:

Spyder bull bar on Ecoboost **WOW** It doesn't block the intercooler - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

In full disclosure, I work with Spyder Industries whose site is linked in the original post. I know these guys. They're not importing anything from China. The Bull Bars are probably the best quality you can find compared to other offerings and won't just look like everyone else's truck or 4Runner.

Here's a pic of one on the front of a tacoma:

I hope it's okay for me to post in here on behalf of Spyder. Not to promote, but to defend against some mis-information. I won't link to our site, as that's already been done.

08, If you were unhappy, I'd encourage you to reach out to Josh over at Spyder Industries. His contact info is right on the site. Everyone I've spoken with has said he's very helpful.

Yes, the bull bar I am referring to is different. Here is the link http://bit.ly/OtS5VG. It sells for just over 100.00. It is sold by DT_moto out of CA.

I was not trying to slander or cut down the "real" Spyder indust., in fact, I didn't know there was one until I checked out your link. It's too bad another company sells cheap products with the same name. Maybe the real Spyder can do something to stop the junk that DT-moto is selling.

Hey no worries 08! It looks like the forum software in here has automatically changed all the links to "spyder industries" to ebay links. So the link to our site has been replaced. For those wanting to see the difference, the website is SpyderIndustries.com
