Squeal From Wheel - Want to look for?
Have an '03 2wd V8 4Runner with 142k miles.
Last week noticed a high pitch squeal on first movement that lasts a few miles then slowly fades away and disappears but if I stop for any length of time it reappears again on inital movment for a short period of time. It immediately stops when brakes applied and resumes as soon as brakes are released. The noise is definately speed dependent, frequency increases and decreases with speed.
Haven't yet isolated what wheel it's actually coming from, I think it's on the right side and noticed yesterday that it is somewhat louder when in reverse.
Any suggestions as to cause? I rotated the tires at 140k miles (faithfully every 5k miles) and disc pads looked good then.
Hoping something simple like brake pads but could it be more involved, maybe wheel bearings?
