Squeaky suspension

Hey guys and gals, quick question for my T4R family:

Can anyone give me an idea of some good places to apply grease for my suspension system? Long story short, when I did the XREAS to FJ conversion, she's been a squeaky little whore ever since. Annoying the heck out of me 20,000 miles later. I know there aren't really any zero fittings under there, so does anyone have any ideas where to apply some grease and what kind to use? I'm just tired of my truck sounding like two hobos going at it on an old mattress when I drive down a road with a few bumps, which is everywhere because I'm in Oklahoma. As the coach of the Letterkenny Irish would say: "It's f***ing embarrassing."

You shouldn't need to grease anything on the suspension. Did you torque everything down correctly and install your bushings/washers correctly?

Try to track down the squeak by having someone rock the car for you. Too many places for a "squeak" to come from.

I had a squeak coming from to top of my front shock tower. The stem was interfering with the top hat due to a missing washer.

That might be what I need to look for then. I know when we installed everything it felt like I was working with a bunch of apes.

When everything was tightened down on the suspension was it done with the weight of the vehicle on it? Control arms and such should be tightened at the normal position the car sits at. Mainly spots that have rubber bushings that twist, not needed on ball joints.

Nope it wasn't. I didn't replace the UCAs, should I have?

No I just didn't know how deep it went. If they had to remove/loosen any of those pieces to do the lift then I would loosen those bolts to let all the rubber bushings get into the loaded resting place they should be before re-tightening. If you look at videos from someone like South Main Auto you will see that he will jack up each control arm before tightening those bolts, otherwise when you put weight on the suspension those bushings will twist and make noise. I'm not saying that is definitely your noise but it could be.

Can confirm this. I've had squeaking this summer and ended up being my top hat nut was loose. Tightened it down and it stopped. But now I'm befuddled because the bushing isn't being compressed.

If I were to guess, you're probably missing the highlighted red washer.

The washers supposed to sit on this ridge:

Without the washer, the thicker portion of the shaft ends up jamming into the bushing, preventing the top bushing from compressing.

Hmmm I’ll have to check I do believe when I installed everything the bushing was compressed.

May very well have been compressed when you installed, as was the case for me. The shaft gradually ends up sliding further into the bushing.

I'm glad that you were able to find the solution because I was going to suggested that applying grease to the suspension was not needed.
