SR5 Sport Edition Imposter ???

So, I'm looking for a new 4th gen, after sinking my old one in the Potomac river !! ( Sunk my 4Runner )

Locally a "Sport Edition" is listed for sale, but when I look at the photos, it doesn't seem to have any of the Sport Edition Features.

It says SR5 Sport Edition on the door, but it doesn't have the tube shaped roof rack, tube shaped running boards, or shift lever from the sport edition.

It also doesn't appear to me, to have the interior trim of the sport edition.

I'm wondering if this is a rebuilt 4Runner. The car fax is "clean", but that doesn't mean that it hasn't been rebuilt.

I might be interested in buying this one, but my concern, of course, is that I don't want a 4Runner that's been pieced together from parts.

Here's a link and I've included some photos too...

2008 4 Runner for sale.

Running boards & Roof rack don't look like sport edition, but door & car fax both say sport edition.

Tow hitch doesn't look like sport edition

Can anyone help straighten me out on what's going in here?

That's awesome. Definitely not a sport though. I'd run. The correct badging would say "Sport Edition 4WD" and the interior would have the sport cloth. The roof rack is wrong and so are the running boards. The rims are also incorrect and obviously the sooper important hood skewp is missing. The sideview mirrors would also be painted to match on a true sport. Go call them out.

It doesn't look pieced together, it just looks like someone popped some Sport Edition emblems on the door....

I can't remember which site it is, but one of the pricing websites lists the SR5 as SR5/Sport and also have the Sport Edition.

If the dealership is trying to sell it is a sport edition, they didn't do their homework...

When I lived out in Cali years ago, I'd see quite a few base model 3 & 5 Series BMWs with the M3 or M5 emblems plastered on them. These folks weren't fooling anybody!

guess the sport edition logo was pasted on by PO, JUST LIKE THE HYBRID STICKER I attached on my sr5..check to see if it has xreas.i doubt.non existent.hood scoop n rims tell me its an sr5

Just for fun I put a Turbo boost gauge in my non-turbo Volvo 740's instrument cluster. Looked cool. Did nothing though! Only moved a little based on barometric pressure changes in weather.

No hood scoop, seat will be black cloth or leather not gray. Door handles, roof rack, grill and tailgate piece of tag would be a brushed silver. Not chrome or body color paint. All sport will have the XREAS shocks.

Is it possible that it was special ordered with specific options?

My Sport has black leather (may be quality aftermarket), hood scoop, a regular roof rack, XREAS (before I removed it), and what appears to limited running boards (non-tube). Oh. And my door handles etc are body color.

But it has the logo!

Wrong wheels, wrong hood, wrong roof rack, wrong running boards, wrong door handles...

At least it has the spoiler... but it is just a SR5.

Tube roof rack and step bars began in 2006. 03-05 Sports had the standard rack, which I believe was painted silver, and the flat running boards.

Yes that is most def a SR5 and not a sport edition. Nobody would go that far to make their sport look like an sr5, hell aren't all of us with sr5's trying to make them look like sports with hood swaps?! Lol
