SSO sliders

Checked the forums and couldn't find the answer. Are these direct bolt on w/out any modification or movement of factory parts?

I'm rocking a '17 TRD ORP w/out KDSS.

Yes direct bolt on!

You need to remove some plastic plugs that fill holes in the frame. You also need to remove a bracket and then it bolts on with the slider. Both of these are reversible and very easy to do.

I love my sliders. They offer good protection, good steps, and look great.

Perfect, thank you! They are at powdercoat and I get them back tomorrow.

You've got a 17' so it might be better but on my 16' the bolt holes were a bit rusty and dry. I live in Maine where they salt the roads a lot so that makes it worst. If i had to do it over again I might run a tap in the holes to clean them out. It would have saved me some time and made it go smoother.

Edit: I see your in TX I would doubt you have any trouble with yours.

I'm undecided if I should go with PC or LineX on mine.

I paid $225 for mine to be powder coated.

My coater did a zinc primer first. This is to keep rust from spreading if there is a chip in the powder coat. Then he did 2 color coats.

Originally I was going to spray paint mine but I didn't wannna deal with rust. I suspect that lineX might have the same problem of rust spreading under the coating id make sure you paint them first. If your using them as sliders I have heard that the lineX can come off pretty easily.

Thanks for the tip, the 4runner has just under 5K miles, hopefully they snug right up.

Were completely bolt on on my 16 TEP. I didn't have a thread chase so I just used a small amount of liquid wrench to clean the threads out before installing. VERY impressed with the quality and ease of install.

Love my SSO sliders. Their customer service is also top notch. I had a bit of damage on one of my sliders and, although it was a longer than expected process due to manufacturing issues, they contacted me weekly and answered each and every one of my messages to them. Install is simple, but they are HEAVY!

First shop quoted me $300 for single stage :shocked:, this is why I kind of veered away from PC. I will check a few more shops and hopefully get a reasonable price.

I paid 250.00 to have mine dipped, blasted, pre-treated, and powdercoated. I thought it was reasonable.

Mine have been great so far. I like the wider rear step which is great for my wife and other people getting in. I just sprayed mine with primer and some outdoor spray paint. Figure it get scratched or dinged I would just spray them again instead of having to repowdercoat them every time.

I'm really struggling with the drivers side slider. Just can't get everything to line up the way it's supposed too.

I'm cannot bolt all sections in, the holes won't line up. I can get the rear in and the front, but the middle section is off. I'm only partially threading one bolt at a time and after getting just one from the back section on, and one from the front on, the middle is a cm or so off.

Thoughts??

Hmm that’s strange. I didn’t have a problem with mine at all. I did have someone helping which made life easier. I would leave everything as loose as possible than once everything is in than tighten down.

Do you have anything partially tightened? if so, make sure you loosen all bolts while installing. Are you using jackstands to support the slider, or just your own strength?

make sure you get it in the right holes. I started mine on the wrong ones one time and a few of them lined up. Good luck i'm sure you will get it.

Yeah, I was alone, later this month I’ll be installing my front bumper at a friends house, he has a nice jack that can hopefully provide some upward pressure to the front of the slider so I can get these last 2 bolts in.

The passenger side went on smooth, but the drivers side is definitely off. I figure 10 out of 12 bolts is probably fine, but it’s very frustrating.

Can someone take a pic of the front driver's side where the sliders bolt onto the frame? I have a '16 Tep w/KDSS and I think i received the wrong sliders. I'm assuming that the correct version has a slant to accommodate for the kdss lines.

Update: did received the correct version. It needed to be jacked up even higher than anticipated to clear the kdss lines. It was however a pain to have it slide under the middle kdss line even with a wedge in place. Had to get creative with a screwdriver with one hand and pumping the jack with the other.
