stalling while driving

97 4rnr limted, stalled after i sped up and then let off the throttle momments later engine died, it was hard to get it to start back up. i just replaced the fuel filter today and it did it again after i filled up the tank. the gas light randomly comes on and off even with a full tank. i am a new member to the forum and also a new 4runner owner.

Fuel pump? Are you getting any misfires and also how does it do on cold starts?

It doesn't back fire, but I need to press on the gas to keep it running, it stalls at idle.

When were the spark plugs and wires last changed?

This happened to me last month after flooding mine. I had the same exact symptoms. Firestone told me I needed a o2 censor. I put one in and it hasn't done this since. Hope this helps.

i changed the spark plugs about a year ago and the o2 sensor at the same time.

now it starts right up. but the same thing happend last time, the next morning it started right up.

Look inside your throttle body and see how dirty it is. If real bad, then your IAC is most likely very dirty and should be cleaned as well (4 screws hold it underneath the throttle body).
