Which radio are you going to end up using? the Uniden 520xl? Let me know cause I need one as well.

Yep, it well be delivered tomorrow! Just in time for my school thanksgiving break, and 9 free days to install CB, my front speakers, wire my sub more permanently, paint and install my new rock sliders, and replace my LBJs.
It was either the Uniden 520xl, the Midland 1001, or the Cobra 19, as I plan to install it in the ash tray.

For anybody interested I'm going to be selling my Cobra 19. I'm actually going to be selling it, and all the grey dash trim from my 01 SR5. I'm swapping the grey bezels for black bezels. It's currently mounted in the ash tray location.
Just in case anybody is interested.

Nice part about living not extremely far down the highway from Mstudt is mine will be here Monday! I got the antenna cable in place and mounted my radio in place if the ash tray today, so it's ready for the mount!

Whadda you getting for an antenna? I assume the cable is run under the frame, etc? I'm not CB literate but will likely get the Uniden 520XL - is there any hardware available for mounting the CB unit or is it strictly a DIY affair? Any insight/photos on making this a clean job is appreciated...

I haven't gotten my CB radio yet. But I got a Firestik 9ft antenna with orange safety flag. We'll find out if it's too tall or not. I was planning on running the coax though the interior.

This is the cleanest way to install in my opinion, that thread has a few options that fit in that loaction, but I went with the Uniden 520XL, you can also see the mounting bracket it comes with in this thread (7th picture):

I installed it in the ash tray, but in a slightly different way, it looks the same from the front though. I wired mine up this weekend, by going through the interior. I pulled off the panels on the driver side and ran it in the cable channel at the same time I was wiring my sub. I will be making a small incision in one of the drain caps in the rear to feed the cable through. It will run maybe a foot under the car, to the mount.
