Hi All;

I was wondering if anyone would know how to eliminate static electricity on my 4Runner? Every time I get out of the rig I get zapped. Not that it hurts but it annoys the crud out of me.

You could spray your seat down with some antistatic spray.

I don't really mind it much. Just grab some metal before you fill up your tank :arrow:

The only place I've really noticed it is when cleaning the back window. Just ground yourself to the edge of the window and you'll be OK.

I have the same problem. I spray my seat with static guard and all I get besides the nasty smell is about a day and a half of protection. Never would've had that problem if I had gotten the leather...

I have the same problem, but it's only a winter thing I experience in Connecticut. I just grab the door really quick, do that a few times and you start building a tolerance to it.

I always maintain contact with a metal surface (body, door, etc) of the car until I completely exit the vehicle. This keeps your body grounded the entire time so your skin doesn't develop a different electrical potential than your car. Therefore you don't get shocked.

What I have discovered is that if I use the top of my wrist and intentionally ground that part of my wrist out on the door frame, the shock doesn't hurt nearly as bad as if you were to grab it with your hand or fingertips.

Some great ideas, thank you all for your input. I was thinking of trying the dryer sheet and see if it helps. Maybe place one on the right side of the seat. Thanks again.

No static shocks on mine

I have leather in my 4runner and it has never happened. It used to happen all year long with my cloth interior sedan though. Quite annoying.
