Steering issue in a 2000

My daughter just experienced an issue with steering when driving her 2000 4R. She was making a right turn and the steering stuck during the turn and she said she couldn't get it to turn, so she hit the curt and stopped in the median.

I test drove it for 30 mins and haven't reproduced the issue.

I'm going to swap the fluid tomorrow, clean out the reservoir per Timmy's video below. I'm also going to inspect the steering column.

Any other ideas what would cause this?

2000 4R, 120k miles.

you are on the right track. is the steering normal when you turn it lock to lock or can you feel resistance at the end of a complete turn or some where during the rotation. look in the reservoir and turn the steering' check for bubbles, check for leaks, check the drive belt tension for steering pump, check the steering knuckle and that the rack is not leaking, tie rod ends and is the truck in alignment.
