Stock Toyota Wheel Question

I have a 95 4runner with stock, 6-lug wheels and I just bought stock 6-lug rims from a guy off craigslist that were from an 87 runner for $80. I know they'll mount up with the lug pattern, just didn't know if I would have any issues with calipers rubbing or anything. The reason I ask is that is looks like the 1st gen wheels were not as "wide" as the 2nd gen? I can't measure a width on my existing wheels with them on the truck and with Tires but when I measure the distance from the bolt opening to the edge of the wheel, it looks like my 2nd gen's stick out about 3.5" beyond the bolt opening and the 1st gen wheels only stick out 2"--if you can visualize what I'm talking about. Is that "Offset" that I'm talking about??? I don't know much about wheels other than they're both 15" rims.

Offset is distance from the center line. You'd be better served to talk in terms of backspacing, which is distance between the wheel mating surface and the inside rim.

Give us pictures of the rims you have and the rims you bought, and we can tell you what the backspacing on each is.

Oh, and one of the rims took a pretty good hit with a rock or curb or something so the rim edge protrudes in toward the center of the wheel probably 1/4" or so. What's the best way to fix that? Just heat 'er up with a torch and take a hammer to 'er?

These are just gonna be my snow tire wheels and I'll probably end up spray painting them. YEAH!!!:guitar3:
