If there have been no other break ins in your neighborhood, i would want to know who knew when i was not going to be at home. Since they took the tent and sleeping bags (not desirable on the black market, i am guessing used), they plan to use them or give them to friends.

Also, take a pic of your 4runner to every pawn shop, paint and body shop, tire center, and off road store within a 50 mile radius. I would think it is still in town and will turn up sometime later.

How visible was that spare key?

I posted on ct4wd too, but had to again cuz this whole situation is so wrong.

Got my eyes open up here in Grande Prairie too, hopefully it's found soon, close to you and in same condition you had it as. Just in case I have eyes peeled and phone in hand to call cops if I see it.

Thanks - as each day goes by I get less and less optimistic. Having a blue Tundra out the window of my shack helps. Some.

Where do I go from here? Build another 3rd Gen EXACTLY like I had the last one? Other than a supercharger, gears, lockers and long travel in the front, I wouldn't change a thing.

The 3.4l is a bit sluggish with all the armour I had on it - hence the supercharger - but would I be better off with a different SUV platform? The dog sure liked the back...

If it were me I'd be awfully tempted to go back to what you had. You had that built pretty sweet, near spot on what I'd do. I had a 3rd gen for over 6 years (now have a 4th for a few years), also have 2nd gen Taco for a while now and as good as the newer ones are I still constantly shop kijiji for a 3rd gen for building just as you had. There was something genuine Toyota about the size and feeling of them. They're such a great platform all around for a good wheeling rig.

Either way lets hope you get yours back in the same shape as it left and not have to worry about a new one!

Exactly - after looking around for different platforms, I keep coming back to the 3rd Gen as the best solution.

as a LEO in training i can tell you if the truck is not recovered in 72 hours chances of recovering is very slim, i hope you have insurance to cover all that, sorry for your loss

No news in that I haven't heard anything from the cops regarding the 4Runner.

So basically I have to deal with insurance (in the process of - the first 2 adjusters were out of the office for undetermined amount of time) and so there's that...

Fingers crossed I can get a decent price from it as starting over is expensive...

If they aren't taking care of your claim, a letter from a lawyer always seems to speed things up. If you have been paying them, then they are required to process your claim in a timely manner.

Personally, if I was to start all over again, I'd go for a JDM Land Cruiser with the 6cyl Turbo Diesel or the 8cyl Petrol.

Especially if you have a LHD Tundra daily driver.

You can find some super clean Land Cruisers from the Canadian Importers now. Easily able to find a fully loaded Cruiser with lockers all around, the engine you want, rust free, super clean and well maintained with 60k to 100k originial kms. Anywhere from 8 to 18 grand imported.

Lots come with racks and lights already mounted.

Terra2imports is a good place to look just to get an idea of what's out there.

Yea, the claim was passed to 2 people who were out of the office (re: vacation) and so it was delayed. They got back to me today and left a voicemail stating they are ready to settle. Great timing - just heard from the RCMP and they found it in Summerland BC.

RHD is a killer for me, just don't want to deal with it when passing etc. Had a friend get T-boned while turning left in a RHD as he couldn't see past the opposite turning lane.

In any case, looks like the RCMP found the 4Runner out in Summerland BC - it's sitting at a lot after being towed. Apparently minimum amount of damage - the only thing the officer said was some roof rack damage... not sure what that means.

Hopefully getting some pictures tomorrow - definitely interested to see what the current state is...

I hope it's in good shape when you go see it! That's good news, maybe you'll be able to continue the build after all. I take it they never caught the ass clowns that stole it?? Sounds like maybe they just took it for a joyride.. hopefully! Anxious to find out what the "damaged roof rack" means.
