STOP The Awning Jingle!!

Aren't these awnings great! I love my ARB.

Except- driving down the road with the windows open- "jinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejingleJINGLE!!" GOD- make it stop already!

LOL - The zippers make the jingle sound. I was zip-tying them, or tucking them inside the awning- but that left a gap between the zippers that must've looked like a Holiday Inn for stinkbugs...

I was looking for a simple and cheap solution (as always).

Maybe this will help somebody else from going nutso...

Got this set of rubber grommets from Harbor Freight for a few bucks:

This size in particular is what worked for the anti-jingle mod:

First you need to remove the zipper handles. Carefully pry the catch open- just a little bit more than needed to get the handle off. Like this:

Attach the rubber grommet and slide the zipper back on (an angle works best).

Now- be careful with the plastic zipper(!) and crimp the catch back down with some pliers like so:

All done.

Hear that?

Exactly.

PS- ALL iPhone pictures Bishes! HAHAHAHHA!

Nice job Jeff! Possibly cheaper (depending on what you have in spare electrical parts in your garage)...

Option 2:
Open gap just enough to slide some heat shrink over the catch. Apply heat. done :trophy:

Okki :blah:

My ARB Awning Jingle:

"Do you need some shade when you go four wheeling?"
"Don't want a shelter, just want some shade,"
"Call ARB, where awning deals are made!"
"Just ask Jeff, our resident tester,"
"What he does to keep his head from peeling!"

Nice jingle killing mod.

I have been on the fence for an ARB awning for a while. Any other things that bug you about it? Also, where do you purchase yours?

Thanks Antman!

I don't remember where I got mine- but I jumped on a sale price spur of the moment!

It's very well made- no complaints!

I just wrap a piece of electrical tape around mine. Not as fancy as yours, but it works.

For those wanting to know where to get them, I got mine from:

Search results for: 'Arb awning'

It was cheaper last month when I got it, but it still has free shipping and it got here quickly.

Are they giving a measurement by width that it will be along your vehicle or the length it pulls outs? I was thinking about getting their larger 98.43in Awning.

If they are giving the measurement for withdraw, does anyone have a width measurement that will be running down the side of your 4R?

*** Update ***

I decided to not be lazy and do a quick search.
