Strange Squeeling Sound on Decel

Greetings All,

I have a strange squeeling sound that comes from the right side of my car. It happens only when I ease of the gas, and it usually goes away after a few seconds.

A few more notes:

  • The pitch of the squeeling dosen't change with vehicle speed
  • Overall, the squeeling sound is fairly quiet... it's hard to hear when I'm driving faster than 50 MPH
  • Brakes were recently replaced on the car. At the same time (a few months ago) I checked the wheel bearings ... nice and firm
  • I live in the far north of Michigan, and the problem started to occur when the weather got cold- 20F and lower.

Any ideas on what this is?

Thanks.

I have no idea what that sound is. I’m just here to let you know that your not the only one. I hear it too, only in cold weather. All I know is that my vehicle starts, runs, drives, stops, and hasn’t blown up so I just ignore it.

Hard to say but my first guess would be one of the drive belts. The air conditioner belt is on that side and is capable of squealing when the engine torque changes on deceleration.

Has this gone on a for a few years now?
