Stupid Question about interior temperature

I have a 2019 SR5P with the leather seats and factory window tinting. Not that it matters but the vehicle is red.
Every time I drive this vehicle I sweat my arse off even in the dead of winter. The seats are heated but turned off. I am thinking I need to add some window tinting but my wife thinks I’m crazy! I told her I’m asking other owners to see if it is just me...
So here we are. I am 60 years old and have had many, many vehicles over the years but this 4R just makes me sweat, am I crazy?

What temp is your thermostat set to? On my 4th gen, even if the heat/ac is off, there is still ~10% ventilation. If your thermostat is set to 80°, it will be hot in your 4Runner.

Is your wife hot also, or just you? The thermostat might also be set differently for the driver and passenger.

Three quick things -

Your seats are Pleather (Soft-Tex) which I've always found to be a bit warmer than leather seats... but that's a personal thing.

The 4R has a fairly large green house (lots of glass) so it will definitely warm up quick on a sunny day.

I don't believe the SR5 has auto climate control, so double check your HVAC settings.

+1 to what CO-Cygnus said about the Softex seat covers - they don't breathe at all, so if it's just your back/butt that get sweaty that's pretty normal. However, if you're warm/sweaty all over, I would look into the window tint. Ours already had tint when we bought it so I've never known what the cabin is like without it.

The amount of heat rejection, even with completely clear firm is bonkers.

I have made an appointment to get window tint on 5/14. It has to be the big glass box effect, I will let you know how it works out. Any suggestions other than the Crystalline 3M?

There are plenty of brands to consider but I am a bit of a 3M fan, I have had such good results with their film, even as the car ages. Plus they have a lifetime warranty.

If you want darker windows for privacy, the 3M Color Stable film is great too. The heat rejection isn't as good as the Crystalline, but it still contributes to reducing heat but you have to do much darker.

I actually have a mix of the two on mine, including Crystalline 90 on the windshield and its probably my favorite "tint" I ever got. Night and day difference.

If you want see for yourself, ask for a small scrap piece of clear Crystalline at the tint shop. Go outside, close your eyes, look at the sun, and move it on/off your face. The difference is huge. That was the selling point for me.

Have you been diagnosed with diaphoresis?

Have you talked to a medical provider about testing?

I had a crystalline layer installed on the sunroof when we still were subjected to the SC summers. HUGE difference in limiting UV rays from up top especially if you're someone that uses it often. No more sun roasting your scalp between 1000-1400.

Eventually I'd like to get layering on all the windows but I might not need to in the new temperate zone.

Just following the rules. I know it's a 5th gen but I'd hate to have someone say I posted it in the wrong spot...oh wait?

Had the 3M Chrystaline 60 installed yesterday, not cheap but not the end of the world, Covid will take care of that if you believe all the hype.
Looking forward to trying it out should it ever get sunny and warm.

This is a pretty common issue with 6th Gen's. I do believe there's even a recall for this exact issue already. If I remember correctly, even though you have the seat warmers turned off. The contacts in the relay aren't opening, and this is allowing the warmers to stay on.

Yup my 2020 does same thing. Even with the heat controls shut off , a little heat still eminates from the vents and after driving around for 20 minutes, it gets warm inside ,plus the hot sun bearing down on you . I would adjusted the temp control to cold ....it helps.
