Sub box

I have searched a few times...I found the audio thread but its not really the exact thing i am looking for. i am wanting to add a sub to my 4runner...i want to loose the least amount of space as i can but have good sound. I have some very nice Diamond Audio 12's and I would like to use one but I am thinking it will eat up too much room...I would love to see the pics of your subs and the space they take up. Also any info about them would be great.

you might want to search for BFLAN's build he has a nice sub box built in he had made.

You can find some pics here. Its a fiberglass box I had built. I have since replaced the Punch with a JL W6 12". It sounds great, and I love the fact that it blends in with the rear and I didnt lose much interior space.

I just use a JL 10w7 in a JL prowedge box. Takes up one side of my trunk. Amp and cap are on the single side back seat.

I have a prefab box for 2x12's I working on getting wired in. The box and each chamber in the box has like 1.5-2 cubic feet for each sub. The box is huge, but this will be a temporary setup until I decide how I want my final box to actually look like. I thinking about fiberglassing it but may just build it and tune it out of cabinet grade birch. Final setup will probably be 12" in a long slender box with 2ft^3 tuned down to around 33Hz with a port of some kind. Not sure whether I'll do slot or round.

I had 2 12 Diamonds in my previous truck (Dodge quad cab 3500) They sounded great! Due to the box size limitations and not wanting to take up tons of space in the 4runner I was looking for a way to build a custom enclosure that would house one of the 12s. I am trying to think up a way to use the space on the passenger side rear where the sub (as Toyota calls it) is located now.

When I had my Dodge I had them mounted in a pre-made ProBox that fit under the rear seats, it hid everything from view and sounded great! Looking at their website I see nothing available from them for the 4runner, or on Crutchfields site. Anyone know of a another company that might make something similar?

I thought about trying that, but I didn't want to tear into everything and get started and it not end up working. I thought about ripping out the JBL sub back there and opening it up and fiberglassing into that area and around, and bringing it out a bit to fit a good high quality 10, but I went the route I did. I'll try and get up a solidworks image about how my final box will fit inside a mock up of the 4runner this weekend when I get a break from school and classes

I just bought one of these. Although it isn't huge it's more what I'm looking for with just that extra sound reinforcement. I'm putting it in this weekend under the front passenger seat. Did a test fit and it works once I remove the seat for running the wires. I will keep you updated.

What is the air volume for that box? Looks small for my needs, but would be nice to still utilize the plug ins that's being covered up.

we did this to a new 4runner at the shop I work at.

This is what I am looking to do. But I think I will be pulling the panel out and utilizing the storage area for more volume. Plus I will have to move the outlets, even though I have never used them.

That is getting close to what everyone is looking for I would think. The usability of the plug ins would be a problem with that for me.

I have one 12" Polk MM mounted in a custom built box. The EQ is mounted on top of the box since there wasn't space for it inside the box without compromising the air seal.

Am i seeing that correctly...did you cut out part of the plastic covering the wheel well?

No. The wheel well cover is intact. The box is notched to account for that and the front panel is a "leg" to help keep the box stable.
