Subwoofers in your 4Runner???

Man this thread is old. Guess I'll give an update. Mine were stolen...

Did you have the cargo cover extended? I am wondering how they knew you had subs.

bummer man, sucks to have **** get stolen . I had a car stolen from me before . Worst feeling , cant even explain it..
With things like subs you realy have to be carefull were you play it, were you show it off. And avoid showing it off within a mile or 2 from your house just incase.

full alpine stereo. type x 10 inch sub with custom Alpine Bandpass box. v12 amp. it knocks like 2 12's if i want it to. i use it to punk my friends with sound systems if i want to make them look bad. but now days I'm more sq over spl

It was in a ski resort parking lot. Once I made my cargo box the subs didn't fit under the cargo cover, so I took it out. Sucky... I was pretty upset for a while, it was about a year ago. I'm over it now. One of the subs had a tear in it anyways. Subs were nice and all, but I'll spend my money elsewhere before thinking about replacing them. Still got it all wired up when I'm ready to add new ones in.

I dont ever play mine near my house just do to the fact noone knows where i live then. But anyways i have a kenwood head unit with a jl audio 250/1 mono block amp and a jl audio 8"inch w7 sub. hits like my 2 kicker comps i had.

Old school..................a couple of Lanzar 12's run by a 500/2 Kenwood amp in my 98 (I'll scan and post pics later)

Yea i just assume that if you play it loud near work or home your asking people to break in and steal you stuff. dont let them know where you live or work and ive never had a problem. ive had my system for like 3 years and never had anything stolen out of mine.

Mine is a little more low key. I had the big systems in high school. Now a days I just like something to round out the sound for the music I listen to. Have it installed under the driver seat...just fits (you can see where the bottom of the seat scrapes the grill) and is more than enough for me.

Ok so my subs are not visible in this picture but you don't really need to see the actual speakers anyways. They are MTX subs. I wish there were Type-Rs.
My setup is pretty legit, at least I am kind of proud of it.
* Dual 12s box
* SmittyBilt storage bag setup
* all my gearz
* strapped down using rope, a tow strap through the 4 eye-holes and 2 bungee cords
* usually topped off with a cargo cover so no-one can see inside

i must of missed this thread, so ill post what i got.
When i sold cars this kid gave me his set up for giving him "a good deal" I don't know if its quality stuff but its lasted over 4 years, plus however long he had it. It sounds good, (im very picky with how the levels are in my music) The amp it came with is made by Pyle i think?? Down the road id like to get something more hidden like a couple of you guys.

used to have a custom lighted box for 2 15" and a 12", but decided i wanted my back back and made another box for 12 and 15, ended up cutting it in half and just using the 15" side. have a Lanzar Vibe 2000w 15" pushed by a SSL 2600w amp. have a 99 and stuffed and i do mean stuffed the amp in the cargo thing in the back, was under the driver but didnt like that because of water and dirt.

Wow, old thread.
I personally found that having subs in the back was a great way to learn how to replace a busted out window and clean up glass from the strangest places (I still find glass from time to time). Never did get those back... been 10 years now I guess since that happend.
And yes, they were covered with a cargo cover, covered with a towel, tinted dark windows in the cargo area, and I never played them loud. So whatever. They were some old Kicker CompVRs that I'd had since the 90s.
Never felt like adding anything new, although all the wiring is still there...
