SunRocket, Vonage, etc....

Anybody else have VOiP?

So I went ahead and hooked up Sunrocket this weekend....it's a competitor of Vonage.

For those unfamiliar with either, it gives you phone service through your high speed internet (need cable or DSL internet).

If you're paying out the butt for your current home phone service (I was paying $45 per month through Comcast), you may want to look at either option. I signed up for the annual program through Sunrocket ($199 up front, cancel anytime, receive refund on portion not used). Now I'm looking at about a $350 annual savings.

So far so good, signal quality is great, and no interruption of service.....yet (fingers crossed). I hear that interruption is the only downfall with these services but if you use your home phone as often as I do (hardly ever), those interruptions will probably go unnoticed.

Anyway, if your interested in Sunrocket, PM me your email addy and I'll send you details (I can get referral points).

Please due your due diligence before signing up though. If you use your home phone religiously, not sure if you want to sign up for it.

I used this site as a start for doing my homework

My parents have Vonage and it seems to work good. They moved 60 miles out of town and wanted to keep a local number so this was by far the easiest way. They got a 1-800 number too, I think they pay 35$ per month.
