Sunroof Maintenance?

I was wondering if anyone had done a comprehensive maintenance/clean on their sunroof and the components? I have tried to clean the area, blow out the drain holes and lube the tracks once about every year. Is there something more I should be doing? Any responses appreciated!

I'm interested in this subject as well.

I'm usually too afraid to open it if there's even the slightest chance it might rain within a week; would be just my luck to open it and then it fails on me.

I sure wish they had a feature where it could be closed manually if needed.

Wipe out the jamb occasionally and there is a tool you can get to clean the drains

My sunroof was stuck closed so I removed the headliner and took out the sunroof. Mine was stuck beyond repair so I cleaned the drain holes, put it all back together and now have the sunroof delete mod. There are 2 copper tunes that had 20 (holy smokes!) years of goop that stick the pull wires...

I had a friend with leaking issues in his sun roof and he ended up having to replace the seal around the whole sun roof and now he uses Vaseline on the seals to keep them from cracking. I'm thinking I should do the same to mine...

All sunroofs leak - that is why there are drains. If you're getting water dripping it is probably clogged drains causing the seepage to overflow the containment perimeter.

I have a 97 with one switch for tilt and one for open/close. The switches kept going "dead". I removed the panel over the switches, unhooked electric connector and added dielectric grease. The switches now work 100% of the time but I am not 100% sure if the grease is the reason since it took a while for the "deadness" to go away completely. I did also lube up all the moving parts that I could see.

Sounds like you have it covered, though instead of the white lithium grease the FSM recommends I use this instead:
