Sunroof motor?

Anybody ever changed out the sunroof motor in your gen 3?

Did you have to completely remove the headliner or could you just let the front droop down enough to get to it?

Getting ready to do this on my truck...as far as what I found doing the same research you MAYBE can, but after having opened it up to diagnose my issue it does look like you need to drop the headliner.

I'll hopefully get some more detailed pics when I do mine and can find out for sure.

The guide on dropping the headliner on 4runners.org could use a modern update (from 2003).

Hey! I did this a year or so ago. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I can take pics tomorrow. I found a little trick to help, pull the headliner trim off of the sun roof, this will allow you easier access once you get the map lights and everything off.
