Sunroof partial open

Wondering why the sunroof automatically stops about 3 inches short of fully open when using the open toggle. Pressing the toggle again allows it to fully open.
I thought maybe this partially open position "better regulated" the incoming wind flow but I can't tell a difference between the two even at high speed.

Your suspicion is correct. The partial open default position is intended to minimize wind noise.
