Hey! You know, I never did fix it 100%. I put duct tape around the sunroof on the outside, which reduced the rattling about 50%... I know, I know, I'm embarrassed that I used duct tape as my "fix".
I honestly had to deal with more pressing life issues to deal with than the sunroof rattle, so it got kicked down the line. Probably will end up dealing with it for good in about six months.
...however, the new ARB fridge/freezer I installed seems to take a bit of the edge off

After I sent this I went out and investigated it further. I think I have come up with a fix to it. There are 2 tracks, the aluminum one that runs front to back of the vehicle (the obvious one), and the one in which the Sunroof slides through that has the open cut out squiggle pattern through it. I was playing around with it and the whole mechanism on the aluminum track is solid, there is no vertical play in it at all. The sunroof bounces up and down do to loose, or worn tolerance in the open cut out squiggly track. So I bought some stainless steel tape, real hard and only .004", that I am going to tape through the track to reduce the tolerance only in the position where the track bushing rests when the sun roof is closed. We'll see how it works.

Mine when it is at close position, you could push up on it from underneath. So there’s definitely play in the track. I’m guessing the space in the track is a bit too big causing the free play. I gave up on it as it’s a bigger job and when it rattle too much, I’ll just tilt it up a bit.

Im going to remove the glass this week and shim the track where the guide bushing rests with the following;
3M 3361 Silver High-Temperature Stainless Steel Tape - 1 in. x 9 ft. Non-Magnetic Acrylic Adhesive Foil Tape. Safety Tapes: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific
It's .004 thick and with the glass removed I should be able to work it in the track just fine, i think.

That tape has a self adhesive side, once you peel the backer off it sticks to any surface it touches, and if the surface is clean/not too much dirt it will stick really, really well and you won't be able to move it or reposition it at that point!

That's the hope! I've scoured threads to find a solution and have yet to see anyone attempt anything like this. I hope it works well so we can finally put this stupid issue to bed.

So I finally got around to this today and I started by removing the glass portion of the sunroof by removing the 4 torx screws. Working from above I was able to play and jostle around the mount. What I noticed is the majority of the sound seemed to be coming from the pivot pin that goes through the mount. It was bone dry and the pin and the mount are metal on metal. The mount and the slding track is metal on plastic/composite. I decide to start small and I greased the pin with some heavy poly bushing grease I had laying around. If you aren't familiar, the stuff is very sticky and heavy. I noticed instantly it was way way qiueter. I drove it around a bit and heard absolutely nothing from above. I'll be driving on a known "annoying sunroof rattle" road a little bit later. So, I am currently holding off on putting the steel tape in the tracks to see how this does. I'd prefer this is the fix but some time will tell. Also, I applied the grease with a toothpick and you must take off the sunroof to grease the pins.
