Sunshade popped out

My 16 year old son was sitting in our 2006 4runner waiting for my wife to come out of the house and the sun was shinning down through the open sunroof, so he grabbed the sunshade and tried to pull it closed to block out the sun. The car was off and he said that he thought the sunshade was stuck so he really pulled on it hard and closed it. When he pulled it closed the sunshade must have popped out of place because now the problem is that the shunshade sticks out about 4 inches before the glass sunroof. When attempting to close the sunroof, the sunroof pushes the sunshade closed, and because it sticks out in front of the front edge of the glass sunroof, it hits the edge of the roof and the jam detection keeps opening the sunroof.

When the sunroof is open and looking between the sunshade and sunroof it looks like there is a hump on the back of the sunshade that is hitting a crossbar on the sunroof frame. Can I just pop that hump on the back of the sunshade behind the crossbar or will I have to drop the headliner and can I work on it without removing the whole sunroof assembly?

was the sunroof propped up or open? You cant close the sunshade with it fully open.

The sunroof was completely open, not tilted up. He said that he had to pull really hard on the sunshade to close it. I said that's because you can't close it when it is open!

Fixed it. The sunshade has a hump on the back end and by pulling it really hard it was pulled under the two cross bars to a position in front. When the sunroof was closing the cross bars were hitting the back of the hump on the sunshade and prevented the sunroof from closing.

To fix I took a wide long piece of cardboard and put a slight bend downward. I inserted the downward bend end of the cardboard between the glass and the sunshade and slid it toward the back over the hump. I then pulled the sunshade all the way forward to the front and pushed the cardboard toward the back where it slid under the two cross bars. Then I pushed the sunshade back, which is now under the cardboard, and forced it past the two cross bars and pulled the cardboard out. Now the hump is on the correct side and when opening the sunroof it pushes the sunshade back and when the sunroof is closed you can pull the sunshade open and closed.
