super charger intercooler

I know some of the supercharged on the 4.0 motors are liquid cooled via an intercooler.

I think the easiest way to cool ours is with meth injection....not as effective, but cheap and easy

You don't need an intercooler with a supercharger. Superchargers increase the air pressure of ambient air by way of a belt. Turbos on the the other hand, dump exhaust gases back into the intake to increase air pressure so if you cool these gases before dumping them back, it becomes more efficient.

Superchargers (and turbochargers) raise the temperature of the intake air by way of physics - compressing a gas increases its temperature - dramatically. (Those molecules get pretty angry when they're all forced together - body odor or something!) Turbochargers don't dump exhaust gas into the intake or the mixture wouldn't burn well at all (that's what EGR valves do to dillute the mixture and reduce combustion temps to reduce emissions).

There doesn't appear to be any room under the S/C to put an intercooler. The intercooler must go on the output side of the supercharger so it looks like the answer is probably no (unless you built a box to go between the S/C and the lower intake to hold an air-to-water intercooler - and mount a big hood scoop!). I'd say go turbo if you're that serious about boost.

has Anyone done an install of a intercooler for the super charger on a 3rd gen?

Yes, custom intercooler setups have been attempted on the 5VZ. But like others have said it's just not worth it.

Here is some good back and forth on the idea (with links to some projects) that Gadget had weighed in on:

Here is one example of a project that someone attempted/completed:

In my opinion, if you already have the S/C you'd be better off with methanol injection (ontop of the already necessary fuel system upgrades and tuning).

If not, maybe custom turbo would be the way to go if you want more power than the S/C can provide.

That is what I did, a Devils Own progressive controller and meth system.
Pleased with the results.
Mileage went down though as my right foot got heavier again.
Buying meth in 5 gallon is pretty easy when you have a local source (san leandro)

Another thing is if your running all that power with an auto, bad juju, is love to it would be nice to have all that power, I for one am happy with the amount of power I have besides being ginger with the go pedal
