Surging problem

92 3VZE auto 4x4. outta nowhere it started surging @ idle. notice that it idles just fine but after holding the throttle open a little, it begins to bog down. let off and hello surge. quick tap and release and it idles just fine. :wtf:

can someone help me figure this out? i have not really tried anything yet, looking for help first.

Start by checking to see if any CEL codes have been stored in the ECM.
Then test your TPS to see if it's in spec.

will do on the search and i have pulled codes from it. i have another thread on here relating to the codes i got. all i remember is 31 and 32. i cleared them since they were only stored and not triggering the CEL and they have not yet come back up in two weeks. all the CEL does when I check for codes is flash steady and continuous.

i am starting to point at the TPS due to when im driving, it runs fine if i keep the throttle pedal moving. if i hold the pedal still, thats when it starts having fits.

well if the throttle has sat in that position for awhile it can start to develop dead spot along the variable resistor. Mine doesnt like me that much either.

does your tps connector face towards the drivers side or passenger side? mine faces towards the passenger side which made testing it pretty stupid. Perhaps it's on the wrong way? Every test procedure I see shows it facing the opposite direction. doubt it though.

mine faces the pass side :dammit: i dont even have an ohm meter to test it with :ybrick: it does have over 200K miles on it so it would not surprise me if it has a dead spot worn into it.

also holding it still in any position causes it to do this. maybe a fuel pressure issue even? is there any way i could do some diagnostic tests at all without an ohm meter?
