Suspension/Lift Kit *Group Buy* Summer 2015

FedEx truck dropped off some goodies today...looks like I know what my weekend plans are now and will have some new material for my severely lacking build thread. Thanks again for getting this group buy setup!

Got my tracking number yesterday and parts are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow from Fedex.

You do it yourself? Was it as easy as unbolting the hub and dropping the strut out?

My brother helped me out with it in our garage. Was pretty smooth sailing. We followed the directions provided and did some internet searching just for picture references. Pretty much just remove front sway bar and then the uca's and coilovers come out (car on jackstands and suspension at full droop). A little prying and flexing of the axle, but nothing crazy.

Back was just full droop, unbolt sway bar from axle, one guy pull up on one side of the axle while the other pulls the loose coil out of the other side.

All in all I think we spent about 8 hours. No previous lift or suspension experience. Though we do both know our way around the basics as we do all our own maintenance and repair work when/if needed.

I wouldn't say we unbolted the hub and dropped the coilovers out. In fact I think it was simpler than that since we left all of the axle alone, ready to back together.


*these are not directions, this is what I did personally, with none of the details like brake lines, abs sensors, taking steps to not overextend cvs, a bolt here, a nut there, etc. mentioned*

Kind of made me laugh that they couldn't just put it in with the coil overs. I started mumbling to myself "Now I know why there shit is so expensive, I just payed for extra shipping and packaging"..

Mid sept

I spoke to Mike at TAP on Monday.
All our rear shocks are accounted for and on back order till mid Sept.
Once they are built they will ship out.

Installed my Icon stage 2 kit last weekend. Went pretty smooth, took about 6 hours from start to finish. The instructions that it came with are pretty lame, seeing how much I payed for the kit you would think the instructions would be a lot better, I ended up referencing an install on one of the FJ forums. All I can say to Icon is pictures, pictures, pictures..

First impressions: Its noticeably taller, have to stretch a little more to get in and jump a little farther to get out. the nose dive with sudden stops is still noticeable, but the sweeping turns seems more firm. Wife said everything is the same except its taller, hahahah..

I look forwarded to taking it on a few trails and see how it performs and ultimately see how reliable it will be in the long term.

And to all of you that got the Biltstein kit, Suckers!!! Yah couldn't resist because I have been in your shoes before..
