I'm at 150k miles on my 2005 T4R and I think the suspension needs some good TLC. I do live on a dirt road which gets pretty nasty during the wet months, so my suspension does take a regular beating. I also live in Michigan, so we have salt on our roads in the Winter. Lately I have noticed that I can feel every little bump in the road so it is time to do some work on my suspension.
Recently, I replaced my front calipers (all frozen pistons on both), and I realized that my lower ball joints are showing some wear. Since my current shocks (FJ TRD) have about 120K miles on them, I think I will replace the shocks too. Springs only have about 40k miles on them, so those should still be good to go.
I figured that while I'm at it, I should probably get some input from the experts here to see what else I should replace while I have the suspension taken apart.
Cost is a factor here, since I will probably only use this as my DD for the next 6-12 months before I give it to a family member to use at their vacation home (will get 1k-2k miles annually for the remainder of its usable life). So, I don't want to dump a bunch of money into it right now. But, if something is only a nominal cost to replace now, I would like to do it so the vehicle is all set for the foreseeable future.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to what else I should take a look at and replace? Here is a list of what I am considering:
