Swap new tires

Does anyone have any experience swapping out new tires on a new vehicle? Specifically, I wondering if a tire shop (like DiscountTires) will essentially trade the OEM tires for something else?

(ps. I tried to search, and guess I'm not smart enough to sort through the results.)

I sold my takeoffs in 2015 from my 4R that were new - less than 1000 miles - for I think $250 on the local classifieds. I think you'd pretty easily get $200-250 for the set selling yourself. So I'd see what they'll give you and use that as a reference point.

I think $300ish for a set of OEM TRD OR wheels is about the going rate here. The TRD Pro wheel sets seem to be more like $5-600/set. Limited wheels are more like $250-300/set and SR5 wheels I think you'd be lucky to get $200 for a set of 4.

Just my local prices that I see.

I know dealers will give an allowance for takeoffs if you buy aftermarket wheels/tire through them. I wanted to keep my wheels but I replaced the tires the first week after I bought it. Since they were new Dueler H/T that retail for about $190 ea, I sold the set quickly for $400. Paid for over half of my KO2s.

When I bought tires from my local America’s (Discount) Tire they would have worked with me for credit if the OEM tires were newer. Try talking to your shop, they may be interested. If not, sell them yourself. But you will have to load the old dirty ones in the back of your new clean 4R and store them until they sell.
