Swapping running boards for tubes?

Anyone know if the mounting holes are exactly the same for the running boards & the tube style ones? I'm guessing yes, but be nice to know for sure.

Shouldn't be an issue if you are talking about the factory ones, they mount to the body in the same location and are vulnerable like factory running boards.

Good to know that they are interchangeable, not that I am surprised. My Sport is an '03, so I have the standard flat running boards. There is a pretty clean set of the tubular ones that just popped up for sale near me and I had the same thought as the OP when I saw them last night.

Are these tubular steps prone to severe rust like the Ford ones I've dealt with in the past? 97-03ish Ford Rangers and Explorers that have been in the family always had extreme rust spots, but that may have just been a Ford thing, ha ha. Anybody here have any issues like that on these?

No rust at all on mine but I am planning on painting them flat black to match my UrbanRunner roof rack so that will probably protect them even more.
