So I recently bought an old 89 MR2, manual, t-topped, supercharged. I love the car, but man, the forum support is not nearly as good as I’m used to over here on t4r. No one talking, no decent write ups. I’ve been spoiled...

Couldn't agree more. Love this place. I'm probably on several different forums, but this one I check periodically. I could see myself continuing to be active here even if I moved on from this chassis.
Another thing I've noticed is, Toyota truck guys in general are super normal and sociable. Anytime I've sold a part to a 4Runner guy in person, we've talked for at least 30 minutes just shooting the shi$.
Honda owners on the other hand...

This site is pretty normal and helpful. For that I'm grateful. Other Toyo sites are a little less user friendly. Still fun but if your a noob you get roasted. Quick.

This forum is one of the top three reasons I don’t sell my 3rd gen. 95% of the other forums are mediocre at best to where some even want a kidney before joining.

This forum is one of the top reasons I BOUGHT my 4runner. I did a bunch of shopping around and vehicle reviews beforehand, and this forum kept popping up.
Now, the Rav4 forum...that's a ghost town. I posted a question for my wife's Rav4, and it FINALLY got pushed to the 2nd page after a few months. Not because people kept posting in my thread, but because no one posted any new threads for that long.

No joke - one is full of *******s that get their rocks off being dicks to new people and the other is full of tards that think a plastidip mod is on the same level as a guy that can do actual chop/bend/paint body work.
And I am a member at both - but use them for buying parts or reference only.

I completely agree. My wife just got a Forester so I joined the forum over there. Lots of good details on stuff but DIY is less prevalent or outdated. Seems like most of the forum bought new Foresters and those guys are the only ones who post. Love being part of this forum!

Don't go near NASIOC or any of the WRX facebook groups then, it is awful. This may sound dumb, but i've considered selling my WRX (which i love) in part because i don't want to be associated with the stereotypical WRX owner. There are a TON of good ones, but the bad ones ruin a lot of it.
To the OP, you have visited MR2OC correct? I always thought they had a bunch of good info at least for SW2X MR2s. I go there a lot for my All-Trac and they are pretty helpful.

I was on NASIOC when I had my STi and I agree with you, it's toxic there.
Unfortunately, T4R, isn't secure and it's been hacked before and I'm surprised the owner hasn't taken steps to secure the site and ensure the members security. Every time you log onto T4R by entering your password you're sending you password data unencrypted. If you use a common name and password across sites (including banking) it's not hard to deduce that it could be used to access that information.
There are other sites I frequent, including the douchey-est place on the internet and generally come here to peruse tech articles and write-ups
I saw the same thread on thenewX.org, which I use since I own and '08 Xterra. They seem to think they have the best forum, and honestly it's a good site. They had a similar thread, I posted in there that I also frequent this site (less posting, more reading). I couldn't choose between the two. I considered a 3rd Gen, but I got a 6MT with a rear locker in my X, so I scooped it up. All in all, both good communities about two very good SUVs.

Yeah, I've browsed over there, not a ton of DIY info. I've come up with two theories. 1. Not nearly as many of the AW11'S were produced as other years, thus limiting the forum involvement. 2. The constant assault of "did you even try to search for that" has prevented new people from wanting to join the community and contribute for fear of being jumped on.
