I started doing paleo about 6 months ago when I had just gotten started with the semester. I lasted about 2 weeks and just got caught up with classes and it made it hard to plan out meals. I still try to eat with some paleo influence but I'm not all the way back again yet. I'm still slowly trying to work more and more of it back into my diet.

Dont you just hate getting into a great routine, and then exams have to mess everything up??

I'm going to try paleo in the new year.. i just miss rice so much sometimes :cry2:

I eliminated all the fast carbs from my diet a couple weeks ago - no more breads, sugars, breakfast cereal, rice, noodles, potatoes, all gone. I'm feeling great, to the point that I'm having trouble going to bed at bed time. Once I see some progress with my waist, I'll start adding back things like sweet potato, squash, wild rice, and see what happens.

So anyway, I'm not hardcore paleo, but I'm definitely making an effort to reduce the amount of processed carbs in my diet, and it seems to be working. Anybody else having success with it?

I gave up meat last year so can't really go paleo... But it's good to try things and see what works for you. Just make sure you are taking vitamins and/or dietary supplements (natural plant-based if possible) as needed.

I would imagine one of the hardest things with this diet is the meat selection and trying to avoid the common fillers and additives you see in most meats. Granted, it might be a little easier to control what goes in your refrigerator, it's the restaurants you have to worry about, and lets face it, most of us are unwilling to eat at home every day.

I've been surprised how well I've been able to stick to the vegetarian thing. Foods taste better, I rarely feel that overstuffed feeling, and it's broadened my selection when I go out. I'm surprised they haven't lynched me down here yet...

There's 50 million ways to prepare chicken breast, and steaks and fish never get old. If I ever try to go full on ketogenic, I think the hardest part for me will be getting enough fat calories. I'm very good at making protein tasty, and avoiding the bad carbs is easy, but what do these keto guys do, eat sticks of butter? :hungry:

It's not so much the preparation, but isn't the point of paleo to get all fresh, natural-raised, grass-fed, lean meat products that have no preservatives, no fillers, no additives, etc? Fnding that at a restaurant is a stretch, at least in the South.

ETA - Really when I considered my options, it was easier to go no-meat than try to find places that don't misrepresent what they are selling and offer the selections you paleo guys are after.

Love Paleo! It's difficult at first, but eating natural, wholesome foods does wonderful things. I'm in good shape but not ripped out of my mind by any means, so I'm not full Paleo right now. Definitely try to avoid processed foods/high carbs though.

+1 for no processed foods. Cant ever overstate how bad that crap is.

I know it isnt really paleo, but I make my own flatbread. I pick good whole grain, organic flour, mix in my choice of spices and baking powder, cook on a dry griddle, and BAM. snacks o snacks.

Wild game anyone? We have a freezer full of wild turkey right now, a summer of river fish, and hopefully a better season this year for elk and deer.

I recently got turned onto Paleo by David Asprey and his bulletproof diet. I can't claim to be full Paleo but I find it all very interesting and have noticed some differences with the changes that I have made so far.

Anyone heard of or tried his bulletproof coffee?

If I show up with a 338LPM can you point me to dinner. Yum Elk. As far as turkey. You have to come out to MO. They are like rabbits I swear.

From where I live, I can point you to the 4 corners of the compass for great hunting. They are friggin everywhere, until the season starts, of course. My roommate just got back from 3 weeks of bow hunting turkey in Nebraska and Wyoming, think he got four or five of 'em. one of these days I'll make it out there with him.

I just started paleo three weeks ago and I'm loving it! I've lost 10lbs so far and my energy level is great! I don't see myself ever going back. I don't even crave that crap I used to eat.

Right there with you. The wife and I started a month ago and I'm down 12 lbs. And that included a wedding weekend and fancy dinner party for work. I don't miss bread or rice/noodles like I thought I would. Like they said above, there are dozens of ways to cook chicken and fish. We've had red meat twice, which is a nice break from the chicken and fish.
My favorite so far is sweet potato mash and crock pot spare ribs (gluten free BBQ sauce).

We buy fruits and veggies twice a month so they won't go bad before we can eat them...My buddy came over for the wedding weekend and asked what all this healthy crap in our fridge was?!?!

YEP, thanks to this guy's wife, ^^^^^ my wife is noW starting to do this PALEO thing, I just eat whatever i am given so we will see how it works, yay.

How do you guys feel about beef jerky? I've been eating a lot of it, but checked the label and noticed it has soy sauce....and I'm sure a ton of other preservatives.

Paleo sucks if you're trying to gain weight. I've been on it for months, now. I cut my body fat percentage in half, from 12% to 4.9%. I just can't seem to break past 145 lbs.

I don't body-build though. I'm more of the Ironman type.

Well, I'm at about 6 weeks and I've lost 15lbs so far. I'm loving this diet! My only weakness is fruit....I need to cut down to get the next 5-10ibs off.
