I’ll guess Toyota keep a bunch of little upgrades, they need something to give people a reason to trade in there 4Runner when it comes to the final facelift.

I believe they come out with a facelift before they start with a 6th gen or something else

FWIW the Tundra got LEDs for 2019 and not many other upgrades were made so I wouldn’t be completely shocked if the 4R got them. They are backwards compatible with an aftermarket harness on the Tundra. The entire upgrade for the lights is about $750 including the harness. If you want to match the fogs with LEDs it’s closer to $950 but the fogs are plug and play. I have a 2019 Tundra with the LEDs and they’re the real deal. They look great and are heads and shoulders better than the halogens in my 2017 Tundra and 2018 4Runner. Honestly, I don’t even like driving the non LED trucks at night anymore... I leave them parked. If they come out with these and they’re compatible... I’ll be the first in line.

Oh man, have had my 2020 TRD Off Road Prem for almost a month. Took our first night drive in some hairy conditions over the weekend. I didn't think it would be possible for a headlight to be as bad as the lights in our 2017 Rav4. But the 4Runners are absolutely ABYSMAL. Kept questioning if they were even on. Would love to see a nice upgrade to say a 2021 OEM headlight, but will probably just do bulbs in the short term to make it livable. Or throw on an LED bar on the roof and and piss everyone oncoming or in front of me off.

Just get a good set of HIDs, or LED low beams, and properly aim them.

I have 5k HID kit I bought years ago and ran on my 4th gen, then swapped over to my 5th gen and the lighting is great. I took the time to properly aimed them, all you need is a measuring tape a wall to aim lights at, and flat ground.

Don't run a LED light bar on the roads when other people are driving around please.
