Taking the shape?

The guy at my shop said he would take the shape before my alignment, and tighten up the suspension or else the alignment won't take. I have no knowledge in dealing with shops and no one to ask. Any truth to this?

Yeah this is hard to understand. Is he wanting to tighten the suspension down? As long as it's not drastically over the factory spec ft/lbs there's no real reason to even bring this up....unless he's trying to charge you for this, in which case turn and run.

Tightening the suspension down is what I am thinking. I haven't had an alignment in the two years I have owned the truck, could the suspension be so loose that it wouldn't allow an alignment?

I'd ask him to explain fully until I understood what he means. And if I can't, I'd go somewhere else. I have no idea what "take the shape" means.
