Talk me into a 4th gen

I just wanted to update everybody:
I went with the 4th gen and I am super glad I did. I got the V8 and its just a beautiful driving experience. I love how smooth everything feels.
I have been off road driving in pastures a few times and I love that 4x4. Performs perfect for my needs and I highly doubt I'll need to mod much of anything at all.
TY for all the help and advice from all the members here. Now my wife wants a 4th or 5th gen lol.

Congratulations! The 4th gen V8 is a sweet machine, smooth running on the highway and at home on the more moderate trails in stock condition. I love ours. I still keep the '94 for when I want to go banging around in rougher conditions - doesn't hurt so much when I ding it up, and easier to fix when I do

You didn't say what year you got and the mileage, if it's an 05 or newer w/the VVT-I engine you may want to go ahead and do the SAI bypass so you don't have to worry about the air pump going out at an inconvenient time which may or may not ever happen but for $45 and 15 to 30 minutes to install it it's worth doing now.
If your not already aware of the possible failure of the SAI pump you can read about it at the link below, for getting a bypass kit you can contact slyfox75 for getting a kit or on eBay for more $, slyfox75 has posted several time in the topic, I think his first post was #41.

Also do you know if the timing belt has been replaced, if not or you can't confirm it has it would be best to go ahead and get it done?

Get a 4th gen. Get the V8 it's one of the few Toyota 4x4s that has extra power. And with AWD is safe. Rain snow gravel it stays planted. My brother has a brand new Tacoma and my 4th gen is still the softer and faster ride and it was half the price.
I'll look into that! I was not aware of that issue.
I got a 2005 sr5 with 140k miles. TB and WP was done at 117k.
The biggest thing is the underside is spotless. No rust. The vehicle was owned and maintained in the lower part of NC. Hoping to get another 70k-100k miles out of it.

I just bought a 2003 Sport Edition v8 for $7,000. It has 179,xxx miles. Clean CARFAX and no rust! I searched for about a day...I feel like I got lucky! I had a 2015 TRD Pro and I am honestly happier in this one. (I traded it for a GMC Sierra)
