The 4th gen TRD PRO wheel picture thread

Reading that message, it sounds like the TRD Pro Wheels will eventually restock and the stop sale will be lifted some time during the summer.
I also put an order in too late and was told something very similar. Stop sale, but will restock some time during the summer.
I saw a couple other toyota online part dealers that gave a similar message too:

I've been eyeing these wheels for several months and didn't pull the trigger in time, so I was super bummed to hear about the stop sale.
I got into research mode and read through a bunch of threads, including every post in this 77 page thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/121417-info-these-trd-wheels.html
I noticed people reported stop sales on these wheels during the Feb-April of 2014, 2015, and now in 2017. During these stop sales, people reported that parts dealers were requiring a TRD Pro VIN to get these wheels. However, the stop sales in 2014 & 2015 were eventually lifted and they started selling them to customers again (without TRD Pro VINs).
Also, every year in July-September, all the major car companies start selling the next years' models.
After noticing this pattern, my hypothesis is that Toyota issues stop sales on these wheels while they're building the next year's fleet of TRD Pros (2014's stop sale was in prep for 2015 TRD Pros, 2015's stop sale was in prep for 2016 TRD Pros), so this stop sale is in preparation for building the 2018 TRD Pros that will start selling in the summertime.
All that being said, I'm still holding out hope that this stop sale will eventually be lifted as well so that I can FINALLY get a set of these wheels!
If summer passes and these don't restock, I guess I'll just settle for the FN f(x) pro wheels...
For anyone that's reading this, please don't take this as concrete facts. This is just what I think is the case after reading loads and loads of content on this forum, on the T4R facebook group, and a bunch of online toyota parts sites.

I don't think the matte gray ones were even an option on the TRD Pro 4Runners, so why are they on manual release/stop sale,and will Toyota even release it to the dealer even with the proper VIN? :dizzy:

Picked up a set last week and couldn't be happier!

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but the FN pro x wheel is a great option of you can't get the oem wheel. It's a replica but 17x8.

I placed my order yesterday with Dustin at FN Wheels. Should be here early next week. They were $769 (includes tax, shipping, center cap, lug nuts). I got the gunmetal grey with machined center cap for my shadow mica T4R sport.

Wow, that's a fantastic price for what appears to be a really solid aftermarket wheel. What tires are you going to run on a 17x8? Like a 285-315 width? I'm kind of pre-shopping the tires, I've actually been looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler (we have Nitto now on the factory 18"), looks like a set of 35x12.5x17 are just under $1100.

Was thinking BFG TA/KO not sure what size yet. Just finished my lift install today. Bilstein 5100's w/ Moog FJ coils F/R. I am currently running 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers at stock height prior to lift today w/ slight rubbing at full turn to right, mud flaps removed.

Check out who the seller is. There are a bunch of Toyota dealerships that have accounts on eBay to sell genuine parts.

I saw the seller was frank-motors: frank-motors on eBay
His icon shows he's in San Diego. Did a quick google search for Frank Motors San Diego and it showed they were a legit Toyota dealership, so I pulled the trigger on them.
