It works on the Land Cruiser, but I don't see it working too well on out 3rd Gens. The angle the intake tube runs at is something that you'll have to look into, not to mention findng a place to drill into the cab to run the extension, and then cutting the intake tube to make it fit onto the valve.
Seems like it'd be more work that gain IMHO.

what's the rise from the stock air box to the bottom of the windshield? i think he did all of that work for maybe 3~4 inches of depth....not a bad idea if he made a proper detachable snorkel with cover plate, i admire the work but think the effort isn't worth it....

The rise from the top of the intake under the fender is what i'd be concenred about.
That's higher than the airbox is, which means that if we were to do it on our Runners, we'd acutally be LOOSING depth.
Plus, this might suck air in from the cab, but I'd still rather have the snorkle running up the outside. Should you get into a wreck, that pipe is foing to become a spear. Penetrating injuries are not something that are fun to deal with, especially out in the middle of nowhere.

I like them both.... what you have to realize is, even though the new location is not much higher.... the odds of the truck sticking around long enough for the cabin to get filled with that much water, are very little.
It will give the driver enough time to run through the water obstacle, and continue before it can suck any water into the engine.
A friend of mine did the same thing with his Suzuki Samurai.... works great, and he can run through water that is over the hood of the little rig!
