That's why I said it was silly. I care more about the clearance over the height of the lift. Living in CO almost all of the trails are littered with med or large rocks that can do a number on the underside, especially while going downhill.

That is what skids are for haha.

5th gens aren't great on clearance because their gas tanks hang low. They have slightly less clearance than the tacoma. If you plan your lines and keep the tire going over the high point of the rocks, you'd be fine though.

Ain't that the truth.

Slow and steady that's definitely one huge adjustment I had to make when switching from a lifted wrangler.
Sometimes the trail picks your line for you, like last weekend when I did the TFL-Truck's cliffhanger 2.0.

I've gotten hung up on my tank twice now.

Need a skid haha

Haha well someone literally said to me yesterday "WOW that thing has a lot of clearance" haha and they have a lifted Tacoma. It was the first thing they said to me when I got out of my 4Runner in a parking lot.

But you never know the size boulders you're going to find on a trail. It's not like you pull up and they are like largest rock 25" H hahah. That would just be silly. It's all about piking the right line and not driving straight into the rock ha.
 
Last Friday I got some fancy new vinyl put on the hood and the rocker panel. I thought it would make Blacksheep even more badass looking...I did not do it to prevent glare, that was never a concern.

 
Decided to go explore this past weekend. Got to test out the crawl control for the first time. Not sure how I feel about it yet, I definitely need to use it more to see how actually useful it is to me.



 
Love the 35s. Any advice for how much to cut for the BMC? could you make a template based on the removed parts...provided that they aren't trashed?

Are the TC USA's necessary for alignment or just preference?

How significant was your power to wheel loss? Something a CAI would correct or are you planning to regear?

I had Relentless Fabrication do my body mount chop. I would use their plates if you are looking into doing it. Cleanest plates in my opinion and from watching it done several times it really isn't that difficult if you have the right tools.

The aftermarket UCA's are definitely necessary to get the alignment specs that I needed.

Re-gearing is not a priority to me right now. I hardly feel a difference with the power since the 4Runner is already slow stock. My speedometer is about 5% off right now.

You need to update your parts list in post #2 to indicate that purdy new bumper. And my personal experience says if you stay with the 885 front springs after you install a winch it'll feel about like it did when you picked it up from the dealer. I'm fine with mine after winch and bumper running the same front setup. :wink2:

Thanks I totally forgot about that! I used to have the same set up on my 4th gen and it ran great with the weight of a V8 and bumper on the front. On the 5th gen it gets me a little more lift and feels basically the same on the road.
