Not too many updates on the truck. Drove it all winter as a daily and that's about it.
Now that spring is here, I have a few projects on the go:
- make some adjustments to my sleeping platform and re-stain it. I decided to add a drawer on the low side that will hold my Cook Partner stove. The constant pursuit of making camp setup simpler.
- building my Eimkeith rear bumper. It's fairly complicated and I must maintain priority of rust proofing all the new steel and brackets so that seems to have made the process take longer than expected. I am about a week from actually starting to weld things together though
- Install my sPOD and winch and get the wiring all sorted.
In the meantime, here is a couple poser shots from the last few days:

... because it's invisible. Kinda like camo. hahaha jokes. Yah not sure, must be a canadian spec thing. Although it is more tinted in real life that this photo makes it look. Sun light must have been hitting it at the right angle?
Element aluminum skid. LINK
I actually helped them develop the "Moab" version. I basically destroyed the Overland version in Moab last year and punctured my radiator. Worked with Element to make a beefier version and this is it. Honestly one of the best and beefiest aluminum skids I've ever seen. I've got some more images in my IG story highlights.

I know I'm late to the party...
It's great that I stumbled on the fact you're back in the 3rd gen fold! That's awesome! The last time I touched base with you, I'd just discovered that one of the guys that works in the same compound as I, owned the Dirtduster 1.0!
That was almost 3 yrs ago... I only ran into this guy periodically, and in 2019, I heard that he had sold it, and bought a Taco and proceeded to build it. Sorry to say, I'm not sure if it stayed local here in Kelowna, or whether it left town. I haven't seen it since...
As for me, I still have my 4R.
I've also taken an interest in Celicas. I bought 2003 to commute from Vernon to Kelowna daily, and I must admit, it's turned into a fun daily driver. This leaves my 4Runner for the weekend outings! Along with this, my son just bought a 1994 Celica--- I'll admit, I've taken a shine to this car...
I'll be very interested in watching your new build goes!! Again, welcome back-- subscribed!!

Sorry for the delay on this.... I guess now that I've had both I think they obviously each have their own pros and cons. The 80 was great - robust build quality, legendary "Land Cruiser" status points, and I honestly loved the size (high roofline, wider than the 3rd Gen, but still not too big.) What I didn't like was the high-speed handling capabilities (SFA), the seats, and the lack of power (although now WITS End does make a pretty rad Turbo setup that I would have purchased, eventually).
However I have come to admit that I am an IFS guy. For all its weaknesses, it is simply hard to beat for the things that I do with my 4Runner. I spend a lot of time on highway and gravel and our local trails are not nearly technical enough to justify a solid axle and the associated drawbacks that can be associated with them. For me, it's just more comfy, and easier to drive IFS trucks. Plus I do like the looks of the 3rd Gen more than any Toyota 4WD in existence
Thanks for checking in and also, sorry for the late reply. Sad we no longer have tabs on the OG Duster, but hopefully it is living on well. Your 3rd Gen looks super clean. Love the Sequoia wheels! Nice moves on getting into the Celica's. They are such cool cars.

**UPDATE - I'm back, and here's why**
Well, I think I'm back on the forums. I know they seem to be dying, but at the same time... I'm not sure I care? IG is where most people are nowadays but I still struggle with the lack of community and lack of technical knowledge on there. It's just so much more "mainstream" (lol) and I have been missing the forums a lot lately. IG is a great tool because so many people are on it, but for learning and sharing technical knowledge it's still hard to beat the forums like this one. I also think it's funny that most of the 4Runner people I keep in touch with on IG are guys that I originally chatted with on these very forums.
So with that being said, I'm going to try and be more present here. Even if no one comments, I know people still use the forums for information. Hopefully some of my posts will help "give back" to the place that honestly taught me a lot and to get me where I am today (in a vehicle sense). Throw a comment out there if you think it's valuable stuff, or tell me what you want to see more of so I can make sure I'm staying relevant! cheers,

So... where did I last leave this off? I have a lot of catchup to do!
We went on a massive Utah road trip back in late September of 2019 (Oh, how do I miss the non-COVID days). That's probably a good place to start. We had a crew of 5 of us that headed South the hit some of Utah's finest views and trails. I've been through Moab 2x previous to this but only 4x4'ed there once before. Moab was one of the destinations but not the primary purpose. For those of you that follow along with our Canadian adventures (including our Colossal trip) you can tell that we just like to get out and camp in remote areas. This was our same goal for our 4,500 km trek south back in 2019.

I for one am glad that your going to be posting here! I've never gotten into IG or facebook. I just thing these forums are the best possible way to record and archive so much information. The community is/was great. I wish we still had a more active 3rd gen section, but I know a lot of people don't want 20 year old vehicles. Still the best car I've ever owned.
I have really enjoyed all your builds. Your photography and attention to detail are a cut above the rest. Keep on!

Thanks! Yah I def got lucky on this one. Commercial airline pilot owned and maintained like it was an airplane. Rare AF Classic Green Pearl color (only made in 97') to top it off. Really excited to get a manual trans and some coilovers/wheels/tires onto this thing. Probably won't be a fast build as I have way too much shit going on in my life but I will definitely throw photos of it on here when I have the chance.
Always glad to see the car/4WD enthusiast crossover!

I'm also stoked to read you'll be more active on this forum again! I've followed along with you and the Tamarack crew on IG for the past few years, man you guys do some rad work. And I'll admit, it only adds to my desire to be a Canadian! Your photography is killer, and the Duster 2.0 is such an awesome mix of OEM+ looks with meaty tires and useful upgrades/modifications. I'm (probably) older than most members on here, and have never had a IG or Facebook account, but have always enjoyed this forum and have gained a lot of knowledge from it. I drew a lot of inspiration for your original Duster build. I appreciate your level of attention and the thought you put into your builds, and the fact you take them out and use them...
Also, love the SC400. I have always liked that model. They are very rare around here. The only ones I see are 'abused'...
And so...a while ago you started a thread on rear coils. That thread kinda got derailed, IMO. What did you end up deciding to do?
