The Few Reasons I hate Winter + My T4R..Feel Free to Add!

I have to agree with all of you (I think).

Positives
Having a competent vehicle is a blast.

Locking the diff is fun on snow

People admire the truck and how perdy it looks even in mud and snow.

The rear window works in zero temps and helps with groceries.

Negative
gas mileage is 15 when I am lucky

GF *****es until it is warm in the cabin. no matter how pretty they are when they ***** they are just seriously tragic.

On ice 4000 lbs of sliding metal is not cool.

no open sunroof for months.

i did think of another reason to dis-like winter as i was getting in my car this morning....big puffy coats are not comfy while driving

Why I hate winter and my T4R?? December 15th in PA and it is 57 degrees out. I want some real snow to try this out in.

And on December 16th in PA it is 30 degrees out and has been snowing most of the day. Has only amounted to an inch or two so far.
Sleet and ice overnight might make for a fun commute to work tomorrow for some people.

My biggest challenge in winter is finding unplowed, snow covered, hills that are steep enough to climb to have fun with.

One thing I do not like about winter is after a snow it seems that many people simply do not clean their vehicles off. This morning BIG chunks of Ice & Snow were flying off of vehicles that had not been cleaned. That in turn caused people behind to swerve to try to avoid being hit by the Ice/Snow chunks. No my idea of a safe driving situation.

I hate all the bad drivers. I have come too close to being rear ended at traffic lights half a dozen times this year. Good thing I stop 20 feet short of the intersection or car in front of me. Gives me room to get away.

I love my truck but hate how much sand and crap gets on and under her. When it thaws in April, I must have 15 lbs of sand on the driveway after hosing her down. It gets in every nook and cranny.

Agreed. My garage is disgusting inside and is going to be one hellish task to clean.

Other than that I love how she performs.

I hate the salt of course, but I wash my Runners about once a week to keep them as clean as possible.
My 93' Runner takes about 10 minutes before it will downshift into overdrive on the highway when the temp is below 30 or so. 5 mintues to the highway are no biggie, but then the first 5 minutes of driving 55 it will stay at 3K RPM, then finally will kick down to about 2.25K. Shifts smooths, just takes a minute. Could be tranny getting old, but it doesn't do it in the summer.

gas milage does suck and on top of it our region runs winter blend fuel which also takes off add'l milage , not to mention the long idle time warm ups.

Agree the inside gets messy , salty , sandy . We have had 35" of snow so far this month.

It can be a pain but I love the winter and change of seasons we have . Fall being my favorite

I dont really have much to add. I hate how the running boards collect all the slush and dirt and me being only 5'7, I end up getting some of that crap on my pant leg when stepping into it. The inside stays clean cause I keep mats everywhere. I have remote start, so the car is always warm and the windows are frost free when I get in. The only noise I have is for some odd reason I hear a clicking noise in the top of the windshield above the rear view mirror, it only does this when the outside temps are below 30 and dry. If its raining or snowing and the temps are below 30, then there is no noise. Go figure.

As for the low MPG's, this does not bother me, heck, its better then what my old SUV got. What do you expect from a 4x4 SUV or truck? If you want better MPG's, get a Civic.

-Gas Mileage Drops in 4wd
-Spare Tire TPMS lights up the dash (I always forget that the first cold snap will result in this), causing me to freeze my butt off by lowering the spare and filing it up with air

The gas mileage drop should be expected in 4WD, but I definatly feel your pain or lack of pain due to numbness when the air light comes on and it is the spare. It is like clock work every cold snap and it turns on.

Even though winter in florida is brutal i still love my 4 runner. It handles everything mother nature can throw at it. The AC works wonderfull for those 80 degree christmas mornings and if it gets cool enough i can roll all of the windows down and enjoy the fresh air.

-Strange Noises, rattles, creaks, moans from the interior. Especially the windows, they seem to all suddenly make odd noises.

YES! It got down into the teens here; the truck got REALLY noisy.
