The "Pile" build.

You really don't. Why torture yourself like that?

Lol, why do you say that? Is it just a POS like my buddy's on 37" crawlers?

Now sporting MT Baja ATZ's, I couldn't get the Iroks to balance out and wanted something a little more street friendly. Long term plans call for real sliders with "built Taco" clamp on steps, Demello front bumper, all pro rear, and a softopper.

No, I'm sure Boatracer's Taco is awesome. Unlike your gimpy 2wd. So why torture yourself? :moon:

I figured that's what you meant :crybaby:

Very nice, it will be sweet when you get those other goodies on it.

In the mean time, I've collected a bunch of parts for my '87: 4.88 diffs with Spartan lockers, new complete poly bushing kit, ball joints, tie rods, V6 brakes with booster/master, manual hubs, wheel bearings, and more. Just need to save for a couple months and pick up a few more things, then it will be a long weekend for a major bolt on party. In reality, I'll probably SAS the Taco and leave this '87 IFS.

I've never bought myself anything newer, I always preferred to drive older cars that had some personality really. After suffering some reliability issues with my '87 and facing a longer commute with a new job, I started looking. Unsure of what to buy, I drove past this Taco and checked it out. It's got some minor issues, nothing to be surprised about with the mods done, but enough that the dealer was motivated to sell. I low balled the $hit out of them, and was a little surprised when they called me a couple weeks later and agreed to sell. I admit that I'm not the biggest fan of DB lifts, but it's nice to drive a newer rig. I really love this truck, 4.88's, factory rear E locker with anytime mod, 6 speed with short throw URD shifter, huge aftermarket stereo, only 28K miles...ect. I'll still be driving it in 20+ years I hope.

Hell yea, sounds like you made out pretty well there. I kick myself for getting a prerunner, but oh well. I was worried I would tear up a 4x4 and not have a reliable daily driver. I'm hoping to pick up the IFS setup out of that blue taco if and when he finally SAC's it, then I will just need an FJ case with tranny adapter, and new driveshafts to convert my prerunner.

When it's finished, you'll be better off with that setup. I really wish my '08 had a manual shift transfer case!

A few of the tacos I wheel with have the FJ case swap with twin sticks and it is sweet, especially with a crawl box. The stock tcase actuator WILL fail at some point.

Did you get a dual diaphram booster and 1" bore master for the 87? I put those in my 85 that was already upgraded to v6 calipers and FJ rotors, and when I deleted than no-longer functioning lspv with a manual valve, the improvement was huge. I can lock up the 37's.

Yes I did, I still need to pick up the new calipers though. My buddy has an old set I can take in for the core charge, otherwise it's like $70 each core and $80 per caliper. I would like to remove that LSPV setup too. I'm headed out to the shop right now to install the new clutch master, slave, and soft line.
