I've seen this rig in person several times, and it's definitely a work in progress.
As it sat the last time, it had large bump stop spacers front and rear to keep those 37's from eating the body (which, beyond trimming the front fenders and pinch weld area, had not been cut to clear the tires). The rig has a lot of down travel, though.
He was telling me that the front suspension is designed to allow the user to install the kit with even a factory coil/shock assembly, and then upgrade from there as $$ allows, thereby reducing the cost of admission for a long travel setup.
It's definitely a cool rig, and the neat part is that he's completely experimenting and trying new things. The front diff is from an FJ cruiser with the 8" ring gear, adding strength beyond the 7.5" ring gear found in the factory diff. With an ARB locker and the RCV axles he's running, that front end is pretty stout.
